Abstract: Concept for transmitting payload data from a transmitter to a receiver via a communication channel within a time interval, wherein channel-coded data packets are generated from the payload data, wherein each of the channel-coded data packets has packet core data corresponding to a packet identification of the respective channel-coded data packet, and wherein the packet core data is coded with a channel code of higher redundancy than the payload data. The channel-coded data packets are sent without any return channel to the receiver, which decodes packet core data of a first received channel-coded data packet of the time interval.

Abstract: An audio encoder for encoding an audio signal has a first coding branch, the first coding branch comprising a first converter for converting a signal from a time domain into a frequency domain. Furthermore, the audio encoder has a second coding branch comprising a second time/frequency converter. Additionally, a signal analyzer for analyzing the audio signal is provided. The signal analyzer, on the hand, determines whether an audio portion is effective in the encoder output signal as a first encoded signal from the first encoding branch or as a second encoded signal from a second encoding branch. On the other hand, the signal analyzer determines a time/frequency resolution to be applied by the converters when generating the encoded signals. An output interface includes, in addition to the first encoded signal and the second encoded signal, a resolution information identifying the resolution used by the first time/frequency converter and used by the second time/frequency converter.

Abstract: The present invention is based on the finding that pictures or a picture stream can be encoded highly efficient when a representation of pictures is chosen that is having different picture blocks, wherein each picture block is carrying picture information for picture areas smaller than the full area of the picture and when the different picture blocks are carrying the picture information either in a first color-space representation or in a second color-space-representation. Since different color-space-representations have individual inherent properties with respect to their describing parameters, choosing an appropriate color-space-representation individually for the picture blocks results in an encoded representation of pictures that is having a better quality at a given size or bit rate.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an optical bandpass filter system that has at least one combination of a bandpass filter that provides a first nanostructured metallic layer (4) and a bandstop filter comprising a second nanostructured metallic layer (7), which are arranged one behind the other, and the layer thicknesses of which are different. The bandstop filter is tuned to the bandpass filter in such a way that it blocks a contiguous wavelength range that partially overlaps a pass-band width of the bandpass filter. With the suggested optical filter system it is possible to create various filter characteristics side by side in a small space with a small pass-band width.

Abstract: In order to process a subband signal of a plurality of real subband signals which are a representation of a real discrete-time signal generated by an analysis filter bank, a weighter for weighting a subband signal by a weighting factor determined for the subband signal is provided to obtain a weighted subband signal. In addition, a correction term is calculated by a correction term determiner, the correction term determiner being implemented to calculate the correction term using at least one other subband signal and using another weighting factor provided for the other subband signal, the two weighting factors differing. The correction term is then combined with the weighted subband signal to obtain a corrected subband signal, resulting in reduced aliasing, even if subband signals are weighted to a different extent.
