  • Publication number: 20180244004
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing an optical fiber coupler, having the following method steps: combining two or more light-guiding fibers (1, 2, 3) to form a fiber bundle; introducing the fiber bundle into a capillary (4); collapsing the capillary (4) onto the fiber bundle surrounded by the capillary. It is the object of the invention to provide an improved method for producing an optical fiber coupler. The method is intended to enable the positioning of the fibers within the capillary to be as precise as possible. At the same time, it should be possible to implement the method with comparatively little effort. To this end, the invention proposes that at least one of the fibers (1, 2, 3) is connected at the end to a guide body (5, 5?) whereof the diameter in the direction transversely to the longitudinal extent of the fiber (1, 2, 3) is larger than the diameter of the fiber (1, 2, 3) and smaller than the internal diameter of the capillary (4).

  • Publication number: 20140369640
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing an optical waveguide (1), the surface of which is at least partly coated with a coating material. The coating material contained in a target (4) is removed using laser radiation (6) of a processing laser or converted into another aggregate state. The coating material is then deposited on the surface of the waveguide (1) and forms a coating thereon, said coating modifying the light guidance. It is the object of the present invention to provide an improved method for producing optical waveguides, in which guidance of undesired electromagnetic radiation and/or guidance of radiation in undesired areas of the waveguide is avoided. To this effect, the present invention proposes that the laser radiation (7) reflected from the target (4) or transmitted through the target heats-up the waveguide (1), said laser radiation (6) being polarized and impinging the target (4) at a specified angle (?) between 10° and 80° relative to the surface normal.

  • Publication number: 20120253697
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for monitoring the condition of rotor blades for wind turbines. It is therefore the object of the invention to increase the accuracy of the monitoring of the condition of rotor blades of wind turbines and to allow a localization of faults or defects and their exact description. In the method in accordance with the invention, eigenvibrations of a rotor blade occurring globally at the rotor blade and locally guided elastic waves are permanently detected with time and spatial resolution using a sensor network and actuator network attached to the rotor blade or using a network arrangement of ultrasound transducers. In addition, elastic waves which are guided periodically at predefinable time intervals and which are respectively emitted by an actuator or ultrasound transducer and detected by sensors or ultrasound transducers are in so doing inspected for variations of the emitted waves.

  • Publication number: 20110181469
Abstract: A method and a device for determining the changing position of a mobile transmitter in a three-dimensional space is proposed in which transmitted signals are issued at a pre-determined frequency from a mobile transmitter, wherein a plurality of receivers receive said transmitted signals. An evaluation device evaluates the received signals for generating correlation curves between the transmitted and the received signals. From the curves of magnitude versus time, TOA values are determined, and from curves in the complex plane, phase values are determined using the time information from the TOA values. The position of the mobile transmitter is calculated as a function of TOA values and of phase or phase difference values.
