    Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for providing motion estimation (ME) for large-size blocks of image data during image processing using small-size block processing logic. An embodiment method includes obtaining a large-size block for ME processing and dividing the large-size block into a plurality of small-size blocks. The large-size block comprises an integer multiple of the small-size blocks. The small-size blocks are then processed in parallel using a small-size block ME processing algorithm. An embodiment apparatus includes a processor configured to implement the method for large-size block ME processing using small-size block ME processing logic, and a shared memory register for storing at different times the 16×16 blocks.

    Abstract: An embodiment method for session handling for a connection between an UE and a network includes establishing, at a first distributed EPC, user and IP sessions over the connection through the first distributed EPC. The first distributed EPC includes a first PGW at which the IP session is anchored. The method also includes holding original IP resources and releasing original connection resources for the sessions at the first distributed EPC when the UE moves beyond the first distributed EPC to a second distributed EPC. The method then establishes a tunnel between the first PGW and a second PGW for the second distributed EPC. The tunnel utilizes the original IP resources and new connection resources at the second distributed EPC. The method then routes data from the tunnel, through the first PGW, and to the network.

    Abstract: Embodiments are provided for a compress and forward relaying scheme in joint multi-cell processing. A plurality of base stations receive similar combinations of user signals from a plurality of users, compress the signals using quantization, and relay the signals over respective backhaul links to a processor in the network for decoding the signal. The processor determines suitable quantization noise levels for the backhaul links according to a weighted sum-rate maximization function for optimizing the quantization noise levels, subject to a backhaul sum capacity constraint on the backhaul links. The determined quantization noise levels are sent to the base stations, which then quantize the received combinations of user signals according to the quantization noise levels and relay the quantized signals to the processor. The quantization is according to a Wyner-Ziv coding or a single user compression algorithm that excludes statistical correlations between the user signals at the base stations.

A profile generator generates an NCP profile identifying one or more selected OFDM subcarriers, wherein the NCP profile indicates which OFDM subcarriers within the RF spectrum are usable to carry NCP messages, and an associated bit loading for each selected subcarrier.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods and apparatuses for reducing power consumption for a mobile electronic device in order to extend battery life. In an embodiment, the mobile electronic device monitors a power level of the battery in the mobile electronic device, determines that the power level of the battery reaches a predetermined threshold, and based upon the determination, terminates a first launcher currently running on the mobile electronic device and activates a second launcher on the mobile electronic device. By activating the second launcher which has power saving features, the power consumption of the mobile electronic device is reduced and thus the battery life is extended while preserving the basic functions of the mobile device.
