    Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for accelerating a packet stream includes a first accelerator configured to re-clock the packet stream from a first clock rate to a second clock rate to produce an accelerated packet stream, where the first clock rate is less than the second clock rate, where the packet stream has a first inter-packet gap, where the accelerated packet stream has a second inter-packet gap, and where the second inter-packet gap is greater than the first inter-packet gap. The system also includes a switch coupled to the first accelerator, where the switch is configured to switch the accelerated packet stream at the second clock rate to produce a switched packet stream.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus for decoding a transmitted signal by a receiver in a MIMO system into a first estimate component for estimating a first signal, a first interference component indicating interference resulting from a correlation relationship among a set of signals to be transmitted, and a first noise component. A base station generates the transmitted signal from the set of signals through a coding process, the coding process defining a correlation relationship amongst the set of signals. The correlation information about the correlation relationship is transmitted to the receiver directly or by a dedicated reference symbol. The decoding is performed by determining a linear receiver filter for the first signal in accordance with the correlation information, and de-correlating the first signal and interferences.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods and apparatuses for reducing power consumption for a mobile electronic device in order to extend battery life. In an embodiment, the mobile electronic device monitors a power level of the battery in the mobile electronic device, determines that the power level of the battery reaches a predetermined threshold, and based upon the determination, terminates a first launcher currently running on the mobile electronic device and activates a second launcher on the mobile electronic device. By activating the second launcher which has power saving features, the power consumption of the mobile electronic device is reduced and thus the battery life is extended while preserving the basic functions of the mobile device.

In an embodiment, a method in a controller includes determining with the controller a schedule for an uplink sounding window in a downlink frequency band, wherein the uplink sounding window comprises a transmission window in at least a partial downlink frequency band that is reserved for uplink channel sounding, instructing a TP to signal the schedule to at least one wireless device in a coverage area of the TP, receiving a channel sounding signal in the downlink frequency band, and obtaining downlink channel state information from the channel sounding signal.

    Abstract: Embodiments are provided to serve user equipments (UEs) that experience, for example persistently, inter-transmission point group (TPG) interference in a wireless or cellular network. The embodiments include steps to serve edge UEs (EUs) such as persistent EUs (PEUs) using a set of transmission points (TPs) in one or more TPGs. The selected set of TPs used for serving the EUs or PEUs are dynamically determined based on a UE-centric metric. The metric involves the PEUs and surrounding UEs. The UE-centric metric is used to partition the network to multiple TPG sets. For each one of multiple assigned resource units (RUs), a TPG set that maximizes or improves a network-wide utility is used for scheduling transmissions. Further, for each RU, the UEs are associated with an optimized or improved TPG in the used TPG set.

    Abstract: Efficient D2D link integration can be achieved by allowing mobile devices to independently initiate D2D/connection-proxy discovery without re-broadcasting beacons originating from the wireless access point. A mobile station wanting to establish a D2D link may broadcast a search message to neighboring mobile stations, which may return offer messages specifying a connection quality and/or parameters of the candidate indirect connection. The requesting mobile station may then select one of the responding neighboring mobile stations through which to establish the indirect connection. Responding mobile stations may delay offer message transmission by a period that is proportional to a connection quality to reduce offer message redundancy.

    Abstract: Embodiments are provided for an efficient antenna design and operation method to adjust or add frequency bands at mobile devices using the available limited antenna size. The embodiments include electrically coupling to the antenna elements at a mobile or radio device a tuning stub or element through a printed circuit board (PCB) or a metal chassis. The PCB is placed between the antenna elements and the tuning stub and is connected to the antenna elements. The tuning stub, e.g., at a corner of the PCB, is connected or disconnected via a switch from the PCB, and hence the antenna elements, to shift the radiation of the antenna at different frequencies and also provide an additional mode of radiation. The tuning stub can also be switched to vary the radiation pattern of the antenna.
