Abstract: A method for accounting information handling in an interworking is provided. A method for processing accounting information by a gateway device includes sending an accounting request message to a first electronic device, and receiving a response message from a first electronic device, the response message responsive to the accounting request message. The accounting request message is related to a communications device attached to the first network. The method also includes processing accounting information. The processing is based on the response message, the gateway device and the first electronic device are part of the first network, the communications device is accessing a second network through the first network, and the communications device has a subscription only with the second network.
Abstract: A named-data networking (NDN) node, comprising a plurality of faces each of which is coupled to a different node in a content-centric network, and a processor coupled to the faces, wherein the processor is configured to probe the performance of each of the faces for an interest, wherein the interest is associated with multiple ones of the faces, wherein a next-hop is identified by the face, wherein a one of the faces associated with the interest is used to forward the interest when the interest is received by the NDN node, and wherein the one of the faces used is determined based on a selection probability determined from feedback from the probe of the performance of the faces.

Abstract: System and method embodiments are included to provide various degrees of time allocation fairness to users using varying target transmission opportunity (TXOP) values. In one embodiment, a method for promoting various degrees of fairness for users in a wireless network includes assigning a target TXOP value for one or more users in the wireless network, wherein the target TXOP value indicates a number of time units for transmissions to be met on average over time by the one or more users, and transmitting the target TXOP value to the one or more users. In another embodiment, a method includes receiving a TXOP value from the wireless network, wherein the target TXOP value indicates a number of time units allocated for transmissions, and transmitting traffic over a plurality of time periods that have an average duration about equal to the number of time units.

Abstract: System and method embodiments are provided to enable features and functionalities for automatically detecting and localizing the position of an object in a video frame and tracking the moving object in the video over time. One method includes detecting a plurality of objects in a video frame using a combined Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) and Local Binary Pattern (LBP) algorithm, highlighting the detected objects, and tracking one of the detected objects that is selected by a user in a plurality of subsequent video frames. Also included is a user device configured to detect a plurality of objects in a video frame displayed on a display screen coupled to the user device using a combined HOG and LBP algorithm, highlight the detected objects, and track one of the detected objects that is selected by a user in a plurality of subsequent video frames on the display screen.

Abstract: System and method embodiments are provided to achieve efficient Direct Mobile Communications (DMC) and device-to-device (D2D) communications for terminal based groups with improved spectrum efficiency, reduced interference, and virtual full duplex operation mode. The embodiments include a distributed mechanism for D2D communications that enables one or more cooperating UEs (CUEs) to help one or more target UEs (TUEs) with limited additional signaling overhead and relatively simple implementation. The mechanism comprises a grantless multi-dimensional multiplexing scheme that uses low density spreading (LDS) over time, frequency, and/or space domains to enable data forwarding between multiple half-duplex terminals or UEs while allowing the UEs to operate in virtual full-duplex mode.

Abstract: System and method embodiments are provided herein to obtain minimum or optimal spare capacity allocation (SCA) using partial disjoint paths (PDP) for bi-connected network topology. Both an integer linear programming (ILP) optimization model and an approximation algorithm, referred to herein as Successive Survivable Routing (SSR), are formulated for resolving the SCA with PDP. The embodiments include assigning a working path and a primary backup path on two disjoint routes between two end nodes, and assigning a plurality of secondary backup paths that are partially disjoint and that each pass through one fiber cut group on one of the two disjoint routes and all remaining fiber cut groups on the other one of the two disjoint routes. Each of the fiber cut groups includes all fiber cut pairs on both disjoint routes that have the same effect of interrupting a flow on both disjoint routes.
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for processing an image generates, using a linear embedding operator, a second set of feature points from a first set of feature points of the image, so that a pair-wise nearest neighbor (NN) topological relationship among the first set of feature points is preserved in the second set of feature points. The linear embedding operator is determined by an affinity model comprising a first affinity parameter, a second affinity parameter, and an affinity matrix, wherein a sparsity of the affinity matrix is controlled by the first affinity parameter and the second affinity parameter.
