    Abstract: A system and method for retargeting video sequences are provided. A method for retargeting a video includes a plurality of frames includes determining saliency information for the plurality of frames, determining a cost metric for the video, and retargeting the video based on the cost metric to produce a retargeted video. The cost metric considers loss due to cropping, scaling, temporal factors, and spatial factors. The retargeting makes use of a crop window for each frame in the plurality of frames.

    Abstract: An embodiment integrated common mode choke comprises a magnetic core, a magnetic plate, a first winding coil and a second winding coil. The magnetic plate is inserted within an inner circumference of the magnetic core. The first winding coil and the second winding coil are wound are wound in the same direction through the magnetic core. The integrated common mode choke is equivalent to a common mode choke and a differential mode choke connected in series. The inductance value of the differential mode choke can be changed by adjusting either the gap between the magnetic plate and the magnetic core or the thickness of the magnetic plate.

    Abstract: An embodiment of a system and method that uses inline measurements to probe available bandwidth for a transmission control protocol, and adaptively sets a slow-start threshold according to the available bandwidth. The method includes initializing a congestion window “cwnd,” sending cwnd packets, estimating an available bandwidth for the cwnd packets. The congestion window cwnd is set to a higher number, and the higher number of further packets is sent if the available bandwidth is greater than a first threshold level. The available bandwidth is re-estimated for the higher number of the further packets, and a soft start threshold “ssthresh” is set to the re-estimated available bandwidth. A statistical measure is calculated for the re-estimated available bandwidth, and the congestion window cwnd is set equal to ssthresh if a ratio of the statistical measure to the re-estimated available bandwidth is less than a second threshold level.

    Abstract: A system and method for MIMO communications is provided. A method includes receiving a data block of P matrices from a transmitter, and determining if operating conditions are met. The method also includes if operating conditions are not met, computing a test position, selecting a codeword based on the test position, and computing a metric. The metric may then be compared with an error radius to determine a validity of the codeword. If the codeword is invalid, another codeword is selected. If the codeword is valid, then the codeword is stored if all matrices have been evaluated, else another matrix is selected for evaluation. If matrices earlier in the data block have untested codewords while all codewords for a matrix being evaluated have been tested, backtracking may be performed. After the codewords for the data block have been found, the stored data may be outputted and processed.
