Abstract: A system and method for enabling coordinated beam switching and scheduling in a wireless communications system. A method for controller operation includes indicating that the controller is operating in a cooperative beam switching mode, transmitting a beam formed reference signal (BFRS), from each communications device being served by the controller, receiving a measurement of a communications channel between the controller and the communications device and an indicator indicating a transmission unit corresponding to the measurement of the communications channel, receiving a transmission intended for a communications device, and causing the transmission to be transmitted to the communications device. The BFRS is beam formed using a plurality of beam patterns, the beam pattern used in beam forming the BFRS changes once per transmission unit, and the transmission is transmitted using measurement of the communications channel and the indicator from the communications device.

  • Publication number: 20100067593
Abstract: A base station transmits control information to a mobile station. A first control channel is transmitted to the mobile station. The first control channel contains an indication of the number of control channel occurrences in a frame. A second control channel is transmitted to the mobile station in a control subframe. The second control channel contains information for communicating a packet between the base station and the mobile station. The control subframe is determined from the number of control channel occurrences in the frame. The packet can then be communicated between the base station and the mobile station in a subframe based on the control channels transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20100054209
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for enabling Single Radio (SR)-Voice Call Continuity (VCC) of emergency calls are provided. More specifically, the methods and apparatuses provide continuity of IMS emergency sessions established in 4G access for mobility to 3G/2G access. • Patent number: 7668890
Abstract: Prefix searches for directing internet data packets are performed in a prefix search integrated circuit. The integrated circuit includes an array of search engines, each of which accesses a prefix search tree data structure to process a prefix search. An SDRAM is dedicated to each search engine, and SDRAMs share address and control pins to plural search engines on the IC chip. Internal nodes of the tree data structure are duplicated across banks of the SDRAMs to increase bandwidth, and leaf nodes are stored across the SDRAM banks to reduce storage requirements. Within each search engine, data stored in a data register from an SDRAM is compared to a prefix search key stored in a key register. Based on that comparison, an address is calculated to access further tree structure data from the SDRAM. Packet descriptors containing search keys are forwarded to the search engines from an input queue and the search results are forwarded to an output queue, the same packet order being maintained in the two queues.

  • Publication number: 20090316583
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for searching a least-cost path between a source node and a destination node in a communication network. A set of costs associated with least-cost paths from the source node to a set of intermediate nodes is first determined. A least-cost path in a reverse direction from the destination node to an intermediate node is also determined. The intermediate node is selected based at least on a first cost associated with the least-cost path from the destination node to the intermediate node, and a second cost associated with a least-cost path from the source node to the intermediate node that was first determined. Accordingly, the least-cost path between the source node and the destination node might then be calculated by using the second cost as heuristic information.
