  • Publication number: 20160262143
Abstract: In an operating method of a user equipment that exchanges signals with network nodes of a cellular radio access network, a quantity that is indicative of a current operating temperature of the user equipment is measured; the user equipment determines whether a threshold value relating to the operating temperature has been exceeded; if the threshold value is exceeded, temperature information is transmitted to a network node of the cellular radio access network, to indicate that the threshold value has been exceeded; in response, the user equipment receives an instruction to use a second set of operating parameters requiring a smaller average power input for the connection to the cellular radio access network in comparison with the first set of operating parameters; and the user equipment, in response to receiving the instruction, reconfigures its connection to the cellular radio access network so as to use the second set of operating parameters.

  • Patent number: 9392397
Abstract: An application device exchanges application data via a cellular radio communication network with an application server. The application device has a memory providing write access for a control entity associated with the network. The application device receives an information element from a network management node operated by the control entity. The information element is indicative of regulation information that defines at least one time span or point in time that can be used for transmission of application exchange data between the application device and the application server. The application device receives an instruction from the network management node to store the regulation information in the device memory, and stores the regulation information. The application device subsequently initiates transmission of the application exchange data between the application device and the application server only at an allowed time that is in accordance with the stored regulation information.

  • Publication number: 20160183155
Abstract: The invention relates to a wireless communication device (UE) configured to be operating in a wireless cellular network supporting a wireless technology standard. For solving the problem of blockage of the UE in regards with one cellular network the UE makes a comparison of communication conditions in downlink and in uplink in order to detect unbalanced communication conditions between downlink and uplink channels and, in case downlink communication conditions are acceptable, but uplink communication conditions show a degradation, initiate an inter-RAT reselection.

  • Publication number: 20150270922
Abstract: A base station in a cellular radio network and user equipment assigned to a cell are linked by an air interface for communication on a respective communication channel in a communication band. The same communication band is common to at least one of the cells and to the user equipment on the respective communication channel of a cell. A jamming transmitter is detected by decoding a cell, by way of successful reading of control information of the cell, detecting a wideband power parameter representative of the communication band, and detecting a channel power parameter representative for a part of the communication band that is a communication channel. A narrowband jamming transmitter is indicated in the case that decoding of the cell failed, the wideband power parameter is not above a first threshold, and the channel power parameter is above a second threshold.

  • Patent number: 8892095
Abstract: To distinguish between stationary and free-to-move terminal devices in a mobile communication network in order to reduce paging interference, a stationary terminal device chooses a surrounding radio cell as a home cell, which remains associated to the stationary terminal device, as long as the home cell fulfills a suitable-cell-requirement. Therefore, the communication network can be operated such that a paging request is only distributed through one base station/NodeB, if that paging request is to be forwarded to a stationary terminal device being associated to a home cell. According to another aspect of the present invention, stationary terminal devices are grouped in separate paging group that is stored in an operation unit of the mobile communication network. If a paging request is to be distributed, it is firstly checked, whether the paging request is to be forwarded to one of the terminal devices of the separate paging group.

  • Patent number: 8825009
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for operating a RF communication device, a RF communication device (400), a method for operating an authentication server of a network entity and to corresponding computer programs. All aspects of the present invention take into account that a continuous operation of a RF communication device, in particular of a metering application, needs to be ensured, even if the function of a component SIM or initial SIM (410) has to be replaced or supplemented by an external new SIM (420). It is suggested to ascertain the validity of the external SIM by using information stored in the component/initial SIM. The validity of the external SIM can be ascertaining either solely on the side of the RF communication device or by sending a corresponding validity check request signal to a remote network entity.
