  • Patent number: 8905719
Abstract: A composite gas turbine engine structure includes a retention ring with airfoils mounted on, integral with, and extending radially away from retention ring. Retention ring includes annular composite plies, a circumferentially segmented airfoil ring including airfoil ring segments disposed around one of outer and inner circumferences of retention ring. Airfoil ring segments include annular bases and radially extending clockwise and counter-clockwise airfoil segments at clockwise and counter-clockwise ends of annular base. Composite airfoils include circumferentially adjacent ones of the clockwise and counter-clockwise airfoil segments. A flowpath shell circumferentially disposed around segmented airfoil ring traps annular bases between flowpath shell and retention ring. Composite airfoils airfoils extend through slots in flowpath shell. Plies may be wrapped in a single spiral made from a continuous composite tape. Slots may be circumferentially angled.

  • Patent number: 8734101
Abstract: A vane includes a composite airfoil having a single dovetail root extending chordwise between or near leading and trailing edges of the airfoil. The root is connected to the airfoil and is slidably received in a dovetail slot in an inner vane mount. The dovetail slot has a triangular slot cross section and a flat slot bottom and flat slot pressure and suction side crush faces corresponding to pressure and suction sides of the airfoil. The root has a triangular root cross section, a flat root bottom, and flat dovetail root pressure and suction side crush faces. A biasing means urges the root bottom of the dovetail root away from the slot bottom and presses and preloads the dovetail root pressure and suction side crush faces against the slot pressure and suction side slot crush faces.

  • Patent number: 7860291
Abstract: A method for performing motion correction in an autocalibrated, multi-shot diffusion-weighting MR imaging data acquisition includes performing motion correction on k-space data in an autocalibration region for each shot individually and then combining the motion-corrected k-space data from each shot to form a motion-corrected reference autocalibration region. Uncorrected source k-space data points are “trained to” the motion-corrected k-space data from the motion-corrected reference autocalibration region to determine coefficients that are used to synthesize motion-corrected k-space data in the outer, undersampled regions of k-space. Similarly, acquired k-space lines in the outer, undersampled regions of k-space may also be replaced by motion-corrected synthesized k-space data.
