Abstract: A drying agent particularly suited for facilitating the drying of inks and paints includes a cobalt drier that is more than six percent cobalt by weight, and no more than fourteen percent cobalt by weight. In particular, the cobalt drier is twelve percent cobalt by weight. The drying agent can also include a manganese drier, tung oil, a water-activated drier, a two-way drier, and a lithographic overprint varnish. All ingredients can be present in the mixture at a concentration of one part by weight. The drying agent can be used with a variety of printing stock substrates, and may be used at significantly higher concentrations than prior art drying agents.
Abstract: An extended overdrive table uses the saturation regions to store useful data that conformably extends the unsaturated region in a natural way. This extended overdrive table reduces the size of any interpolation errors when straddling crossover points to acceptable levels without requiring storing or using any crossover data. In addition, since the saturation regions are used to hold the new data, no additional storage requirements are introduced. The numeric range of the extended table is increased and it is therefore supposed that the bit depth of the table entries is increased, but the table can be resealed to retain the original bit depth with insignificant loss of accuracy. Also, the new data incorporated into the saturation regions allows run time calculation of the pixel attained at the end of the frame time that is needed as the start of the pixel for the next cycle.
Abstract: A computer-based method for determining a set of equity-indexed crediting parameters E for a lifetime-income equity-indexed deposit product provided to a set of owners having a set of dates of birth B, a rider charge C, a lifetime income percentage scale L, a set of profitability requirements R, a principal amount P, and an account value A. The method can include the steps of: establishing the values of C, L, R, P, A and E at a time when said deposit product is purchased; generating a set of yield curve and equity index scenarios consistent with valuation parameters; setting a trial value Ei for E; calculating the observed distribution D of profitability; comparing D with R; and, computing a revised trial value Ei+1 for E, where the steps of establishing, generating, setting, calculating, comparing, and computing are performed by at least one general purpose computer.

Abstract: Global-adaptive deinterlacing systems and methods for reducing scintillation and feathering artifacts. Motion adaptive deinterlacing (MADI) local motion quantization thresholds are adaptively adjusted according to the amount of global motion present in the video sequence, thereby minimizing scintillation and feathering artifacts when deinterlacing the fields. A set of global motion scenarios are defined for the purpose of classifying fields, and a number of global motion indicators are used to detect on a field-by-field basis different global motion scenarios.

Abstract: A film of material may be formed by providing a semiconductor substrate having a surface region and a cleave region located at a predetermined depth beneath the surface region. During a process of cleaving the film from the substrate, shear in the cleave region is carefully controlled to achieve controlled propagation by either KII or energy propagation control. According to certain embodiments, an in-plane shear component (KII) is maintained near zero by adiabatic heating of silicon through exposure to E-beam radiation. According to other embodiments, a surface heating source in combination with an implanted layer serves to guide fracture propagation through the cleave sequence.
Abstract: A method of fabricating a thickness of silicon material includes providing a silicon ingot material having a surface region and introducing a plurality of particles having an energy of about 1-5 MeV through the surface region to a depth to define a cleave region and a thickness of detachable material between the cleave region and the surface region. Additionally, the method includes processing the silicon ingot material to free the thickness of detachable material at a vicinity of the cleave region and causing formation of a free-standing thickness of material characterized by a carrier lifetime about 10 microseconds and a thickness ranging from about 20 microns to about 150 microns with a thickness variation of less than about five percent. Furthermore, the method includes treating the free-standing thickness of material using a thermal treatment process to recover the carrier lifetime to about 200 microseconds and greater.

Abstract: A system for manufacturing free-standing films from work pieces. The system includes a racetrack structure being configured to transfer at least one work piece and one or more accelerator-based ion implanters coupled to the racetrack structure via an end station. Each of the accelerator-based ion implanters is configured to introduce particles having an energy of greater than 1 MeV to implant into a surface of the work piece loaded in the end station to form a cleave region in the work piece. The system includes one or more cleave modules coupled to the racetrack structure configured to perform a cleave process to release a free-standing film from the work piece along the cleave region. Additionally, the system includes an output port coupled to each cleave module to output the free standing film detached from the work piece and one or more service modules each connected to the racetrack structure.
Abstract: A packet based high bandwidth copy protection method is described that includes the following operations. Forming a number of data packets at a source device, encrypting selected ones of the data packets based upon a set of encryption values, transmitting the encrypted data packets from the source device to a sink device coupled thereto, decrypting the encrypted data packets based in part upon the encryption values, and accessing the decrypted data packets by the sink device.
Abstract: A method and apparatus of optimizing transmission (both real time and continuous) of a number of multimedia data packets between a multimedia source device and a multimedia display device is disclosed. In the described embodiment, the multimedia source device and the display device are coupled by way of a unidirectional main link arranged to carry the multimedia data packets from the multimedia source device and the multimedia display device and a bi-directional auxiliary channel arranged to transfer information between the multimedia source device and the multimedia display device. The method can be carried out by following at least the following operations. Providing a test pattern by the multimedia source device on the main link, determining a transmission quality factor of the main link based upon the test pattern, and optimizing the transmission of the multimedia data packets based upon the transmission quality factor.

Abstract: A master application is installed on an organizational computer system to guide organizational personnel through the steps of constructing a customized database. Upon selecting a computer server and platform to host the database, organizational processes are divided into building blocks having well-defined input-output relationships. The application provides a list of organizational types and business processes in the form of modules that facilitate the construction of an organizational data flowchart that extends to all users of the system. Each user has a user identification that predetermines the ability of an end user to input data, receive reports and have other privileges associated therewith. An end user is provided with a graphical interface with the database, the graphical interface being customizable to a format chosen by the end user.
