Patent number: 5314124Abstract: Fine particle coal is beneficiated in specially designed dense medium cyclones to improve particle acceleration and enhance separation efficiency. Raw coal feed is first sized to remove fine coal particles. The coarse fraction is then separated into clean coal, middlings, and refuse. Middlings are comminuted for beneficiation with the fine fraction. The fine fraction is deslimed in a countercurrent cyclone circuit and then separated as multiple fractions of different size specifications in dense medium cyclones. The dense medium contains ultra-fine magnetite particles of a narrow size distribution which aid separation and improves magnetite recovery. Magnetite is recovered from each separated fraction independently, with non-magnetic effluent water from one fraction diluting feed to a smaller-size fraction, and improving both overall coal and magnetite recovery.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1991Date of Patent: May 24, 1994Assignee: Genesis Research CorporationInventor: James K. Patent number: 5290258Abstract: This syringe for dispensing multiple doses of a liquid medicament one at a time has a cylindrical barrel for containing the medicament. At one end of the barrel is a single outlet opening. A plunger in the barrel discharges the medicament. A syringe cap rotatable mounted on the barrel has guide means restraining the cap against axial movement. Ratchet means on the cap and barrel permit only unidirectional rotation of the cap and sequentially retain the cap in equally spaced detent positions on the barrel. Nozzles on top of the cap have passages for ejecting the medicament. Each passage terminates in a hole in the top of the cap. Only one nozzle at a time communicates with the barrel vis the outlet opening in each detent position of the cap on the barrel.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1992Date of Patent: March 1, 1994Assignee: Genesis Industries, Inc.Inventors: James F. Patent number: 5280836Abstract: The present invention is further directed towards a method for determining the efficiency of separation of a dense media separation process. This method includes determining an apparent distance a particle must travel in a dense media cyclone to be correctly beneficiated. From this apparent distance, an apparent velocity a particle must achieve to be correctly beneficiated is calculated. This apparent velocity is used, along with cyclone geometry and operational parameters to calculate a divergence value which indicates the efficiency of separation. The present invention also includes a method for selecting cyclone geometry and operating parameters which includes determining separation efficiency and adjusting geometry and parameters in a manner to obtain improved efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1992Date of Patent: January 25, 1994Assignee: Genesis Research CorporationInventor: James K. Patent number: 5262962Abstract: The present invention provides a method for selecting magnetite to form a dense media for beneficiation of fine particulate solids such that the particulate solids are as buoyant with respect to the dense media as if the solids were in a true liquid having a specific gravity equal to that of the dense media. The method involves determining a magnetite particle diameter such that the diameter ratio of particulate solid to magnetite lies above a diameter ratio partition curve. The invention is also directed toward using magnetite having a particle diameter less than about 0.005 mm and a mean particle diameter of about 0.0025 mm. Such magnetite is formed from a gas phase pyrohydrolysis reaction on an aqueous iron (ferrous) chloride solution. The present invention is further directed towards a method for determining the efficiency of separation of a dense media separation process. This method includes determining an apparent distance a particle must travel in a dense media cyclone to be correctly beneficiated.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1991Date of Patent: November 16, 1993Assignee: Genesis Research CorporationInventor: James K. Patent number: 5165560Abstract: A hermetically sealed, nonrotatable closure for a bottle having a cylindrical body containing liquid and having an integral tubular neck formed with a free open end, comprises an annular flange on the tubular neck. A flexible stopper mounts on the flange. A cup shaped cap has a flat top wall with peripherally integral pliable skirt in which is an internal beveled ridge. The ridge engages the flange to lock the cap on the neck of the bottle. The top wall of the cap has a central hole to expose the stopper which can be pierced by a hypodermic needle to extract the liquid from the bottle while the cap remains unbroken on the neck of the bottle. Inside the skirt of the cap are circumferentially spaced teeth which engage in circumferential slots in the annular flange to cooperate with the ridge in preventing axial movement on the cap and stopper on the bottle.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1992Date of Patent: November 24, 1992Assignee: Genesis Industries, Inc.Inventors: James F. Patent number: 5133287Abstract: A continuous feeding process is provided in a flow-through container wherein the input oxygen content of the water flow is measured and a signal is sent to a system processor. The system processor controls the output of a feeder which supplies a continuous controlled amount of feed to the fish, with the amount of the feed being directly related to the oxygen content of the water. The output oxygen content is also measured and a signal is sent to the system processor. In response to the input and output signals, oxygen is controllably supplied to the input side of the flow-through container. A photosensor is also connected to the processor so as to limit the feeding process to daylight hours.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1991Date of Patent: July 28, 1992Assignee: Genesis Aquaculture, Inc.Inventor: Charles E. Patent number: 5093265Abstract: Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and other conditions may be diagnosed according to the invention by measuring the level of luteinizing hormone antibodies in the system of a woman subject. A low level of such antibodies as compared to levels measured for non-PMS women indicates that the patient suffers from PMS. A patient identified by this method is then treated as needed, such as by oral administration of progesterone, to alleviate the symptoms of the condition.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1987Date of Patent: March 3, 1992Assignee: Genesis Systems CorporationInventors: Edward M.
