  • Patent number: 4768825
Abstract: A foldable high chair requiring only four pivot joints and a combination pivot and sliding joint on each side is disclosed. Three of the four pivot joints are spaced along each side arm, the first connecting the side arm to the back of the high chair, and the second and third joining the side arm with the rear and front legs of the high chair, respectively. The fourth pivot joint on each side joins the front leg with the seat of the high chair, and the combination joint joins the seat to the chair back in a pivoting relationship, and the rear leg to both in a sliding relationship. By virtue of this arrangement, only four rivets are needed per side. Also disclosed is a lock-and-release mechansim associated with the combination joints and operated by a single trigger underneath the chair seat.

  • Patent number: 4763895
Abstract: A child's playseat used for partial submersion in a bathtub or pool is provided with a mechanism for squirting water as the seat is rocked back and forth. The playseat itself consists of a seat portion which slides back and forth over a fixed base, with a bellows lodged between them for expansion and contraction as the seat slides. Preferred embodiments include an upright post with handlebars, the post pivotally mounted to the playseat to cause the seat to slide when the handlebars are pushed and pulled. Water ejected upon contraction of the bellows passes up through a tube which emerges from the post.

  • Patent number: 4744599
Abstract: A latch mechanism for securing a detachable seat to a frame such as that used on a child's swing is comprised of a hook depending from a hub on each side of the seat, and a U-shaped collar to receive the hub with a flange to engage the hook. As the hook slides along the flange, the angle of the seat with respect to the frame is varied, and a retractable bolt secures the hook at either of two positions along the flange.

  • Patent number: 4738489
Abstract: A child's car seat which includes a rigid, T-shaped shield member which forms the frontal restraint barrier across the chair structure. The shield member includes a lock mechanism between the vertical crotch member and the bottom of the chair structure which can be operated with one hand. The shield member is adjustably and rotatably affixed to the sides of the chair structure to permit rotation of the shield member above the child's head. Shoulder harness straps emanating from the back of the chair structure are automatically positioned as the shield member is lowered into place. The shield member, lock mechanism and shoulder harnesses are adjustable to accommodate infants and toddlers. The shoulder harness straps interact with the lock mechanism of the shield member such that once the lock is engaged, the shoulder harness straps cannot be adjusted.

  • Patent number: 4676787
Abstract: A diaper is woven with an unfolded width of greater than about 40 inches, and is then folded along not fewer than three warp-direction fold lines in such a way that the central panel of the folded diaper includes at least four superposed layers while each side panel includes only one or two superposed layers. The number of filling yarns per inch in the diaper is considerably reduced, as compared to conventional diapers, thus providing an increase in production speed and hence a reduction in production cost, without decreasing (and generally increasing) the total thread count per square inch in, and absorbency of, the central panel.

  • Patent number: 4673078
Abstract: Articles from various sources are arranged in assorted combinations by feeding the articles in individual feed lines according to source to a rotor with outward opening pockets each capable of retaining one full combination. The feed lines meet the rotor periphery along a series of spaced entry points, and a contoured stationary barrier extending into the pockets of the rotor effectively shortens the pockets to a varying degree which recedes in the direction of rotation of the rotor. The result is that each pocket adds only a preselected number (generally one) of articles as it passes each entry point. Upon passing the last entry point, each pocket contains a full assortment of articles which are subsequently ejected from the pocket as a group.

  • Patent number: 4651367
Abstract: A collapsible baby crib having two pairs of opposed end legs, two centrally-located side legs, the legs being pivotally interconnected by upper and lower horizontal tubes, and covered by a fabric to form a generally rectangular crib which can be zig-zag folded to a collapsed condition. Two floor halves in the lower portion of the crib form a bottom wall. Each floor half is formed of a generally triangular section, the two triangular sections being hinged together along a diagonal line. One triangular section is hinged to an end tube and one triangular section is hinged to a side tube. The floor is folded within the confines of the crib walls when in collapsed condition.

  • Patent number: 4645183
Abstract: An adjustable enclosure is provided for young children including a plurality of inner panels and a pair of end panels formed of tubes connected in a rectangular shape with a section of mesh material extending therebetween. The panels are connected in pivotal relation by hinge means designed to articulate approximately 300.degree. allowing the panels to be folded together compactly for easy transport, an also to resist pivotal motion to a degree whereby young children cannot readily pivot one panel relative to another.

  • Patent number: 4643474
Abstract: A child's car booster seat that cooperates with the automobile's existing safety belt restraint system is disclosed. A contoured seat bottom elevates the child above the existing automobile seat. A frontal shield is fixed pivotally and slidably along one side of the seat and removably fitted at the other side of the seat to lock into variable positions on the booster seat. A channel traversing the front of the shield accepts the automobile's lap safety belt for securing the booster seat to the automobile's existing car seat. In an open position, the upper surface of the booster seat is completely exposed to permit positioning of the child. The shield can then be pivoted, adjusted and locked with one hand to restrain the child. The automobile's safety belt is then extended across the shield to secure the booster seat to the automobile's existing car seat.

  • Patent number: 4634177
Abstract: An infant carrier and base are provided with locking features which include a spring-mounted bolt protruding laterally from the base and a hollow or aperture in the carrier which engages the bolt when the carrier is inserted into the base. The upper surface of the bolt is sloped so that the carrier forces the bolt inward (to a retracted position) as the rim of the aperture slides over the protruding end of the bolt. A spring snaps the bolt back into place once the carrier is fully inserted and the aperture is aligned with the bolt. The carrier contains a lever arm whose fulcrum is positioned adjacent to the aperture. A spiral cam protrudes from the fulcrum to engage a knob extending upward from the side of the bolt, so that when the lever arm is rotated the cam urges the knob backward, retracting the bolt and permitting removal of the carrier from the base.
