  • Patent number: 6297509
Abstract: The apparatus has an illuminating device for illuminating sheet material with clocked excitation light. Both during the light phase of clocked excitation light and during the dark phase of clocked excitation light a sensor detects an intensity of the light emitted by the sheet material in each case. In an evaluation device an intensity of fluorescently emitted light and an intensity of phosphorescently emitted light are derived from the intensities detected in the light phase and in the dark phase of clocked excitation light. In order to ensure long preillumination with high intensity, the sensor preferably detects the intensities of emitted light within, and toward the end (in the transport direction) of, the area of the sheet material illuminated by the illuminating device. Additionally the illuminated area of the sheet material is selected to be so great that it is a multiple of the desired resolution.

  • Patent number: 6267372
Abstract: The apparatus has an input pocket into which a stack of sheets is inserted. At least the sheet to be picked from the stack by the picking device is transported by means of a feed device to a picking device which then picks one sheet from the stack at a time. To improve singling quality, a presingling device is provided which first transports only part of the stack to the picking device. In order to ensure that stacks of different-sized sheet material are singled reliably, an aligning device is provided which transports at least the sheet to be picked from the stack in the direction of a defined stop and thus aligns the sheet against said stop. The aligning device preferably cooperates alternatingly with the feed device. To increase singling reliability, a pressure plate is provided in the presingling device for acting upon the presingled partial stack with a certain pressure.

  • Patent number: 6229306
Abstract: The method for measuring magnetic properties of sheet material is able to deliver reliable signals at both low and high magnetic particle density in the sheet material. First a measuring head converts the magnetic properties of the sheet material into electric signals. The electric signals produced by the measuring head are amplified in a certain signal range such that the lower-amplitude electric signals produced by the areas with low magnetic particle density of the sheet material are amplified to a greater extent than the electric higher-amplitude signals produced by the areas with high magnetic particle density of the sheet material. For this purpose the signal range is divided into at least three ranges which are each amplified constantly. The amplification in the two outer ranges is selected equal, and the amplification in the middle range greater than the amplification in the outer ranges.

  • Patent number: 6182962
Abstract: In an apparatus for separating sheet material from a stack, the latter rests on a movable pressure plate, by adapted to feed the stack to a withdrawal device.
