Abstract: An apparatus for singling cards, such as check cards, identity cards and the like, which consists of a magazine for storing the cards in a stack, a removing device and a retaining device. The cards are disposed in the magazine rotated at a defined angle from one another, resulting in protruding surfaces between two successive cards. For singling, the uppermost card is lifted off in an axis perpendicular to the card surface by means of a removing device. The card following the uppermost card is held back in the magazine by means of a retaining device, the retaining device acting on the protruding surface of the following card.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for dynamic determination of the thickness and/or basis weight of moving material under test. The material under test is exposed to a focused ultrasound filed with high sound intensity, whereby the sound fraction coming from the material under test is detected directly in the near filed, i.e. at a distance smaller than or equal to the acoustic wavelength used, and evaluated for determining the thickness and/or basis weight. The near-field measurement preferably takes place with continuous sound and in transmission.
Abstract: The invention relates to an antifalsification paper having a security element in the form of a thread or band that consists of a translucent plastic film with an at least partly opaque coating. The coating has translucent areas in the form of visually and/or machine readable characters or patterns that form first information. In addition second information in the form of visually and/or machine readable characters or patterns is disposed on the plastic film, differing from the first information with respect to its size and/or visual impression.

Abstract: For measuring magnetic properties of sheet material the sheet material is guided past a magnetic measuring system at a measuring distance defined between the sheet material and the magnetic measuring system. The sheet material is transported with a transport medium disposed between the measuring system and the sheet material. The measuring distance is determined substantially by the thickness of the transport medium. The thickness of the transport medium is selected to be smaller than a predetermined local resolution. If the local resolution is high enough it is also possible to detect magnetic printed images.
Abstract: A method for producing identity cards which uses card bodies with standardized outer dimensions and wherein carrier elements with different dimensions are incorporated in the card bodies, the carrier elements having at least one integrated circuit connected electroconductively with coupling elements used for communication of the integrated circuit with external devices, characterized in thatadapter elements formed with uniform outer dimensions are provided for receiving the different carrier elements, for receiving the adapter elements the card bodies are provided with recesses corresponding in shape and size substantially to the outer dimensions of the adapter elements, andthe carrier elements are connected with the card body via the adapter elements.
Abstract: The invention relates to a banknote processing machine wherein the bank notes located in the transport path, after being tested and classified, are delivered from the transport path by means of suitably controlled switches. Deflecting means following the switches and causing rotation and a change of moving direction of the sheets feed the bank notes to the stacking pockets of the stacking units of the bank note processing machine. The entrance ports of the stacking pockets are preferably aligned perpendicular to the direction of transport.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing chip cards having electronic modules. The prior art discloses different production methods for such chip cards wherein the particular electronic module used has a special structure. In contrast, a method is now presented for producing chip cards having electronic modules that uses a standardized electronic module which is adapted to the production technique for the card in a last method step and connected with the card body by the selected technique.

Abstract: The invention relates to an antifalsification paper having a security element in the form of a thread or band which consists of a transparent plastic film with an at least partly opaque coating. The security element has at least a first opaque coating and a transparent area bordering on this opaque coating, and information extending from the first opaque coating into the transparent area.
Abstract: In a system for conducting transactions with a multifunctional card having an integrated circuit, the circuit contains a bank application associated with the user's account-keeping bank and at least one purse application associated with a services supplier or manufacturer. With the aid of an apparatus communicating with the card, the card user can load a selectable sum of money into the purse application. The purse supplier is provided with a transaction certificate about the sum loaded in the purse and to be credited to the purse supplier's account, without a need for storing the secret data necessary for preparing this certificate in the purse application or in the purse terminal.
