Abstract: An apparatus to facilitate vehicle door closing includes a rack gear engaging a pinion gear that are connected between the door and a hinge pillar. A spring is operatively connected to the pinion gear stores energy during a portion of a door opening motion and releases the stored energy to bias the door to close. A damper operatively connects the spring and the door to limit the door closing speed during a portion of the door closing motion. A power cinching mechanism may be operatively coupled to the door closing apparatus to assist in the final closing motion of the door.

  • Publication number: 20150207859
Abstract: A vehicle control and computation system interfaces a task controller in the vehicle with a vehicle-specific computation manager in a cloud network. A wireless data channel couples the task controller and the cloud network. The task controller performs operational tasks in the vehicle using data-related resources in the cloud network. Upon initiating one of the operational tasks, the task controller sends a handshake signal to the computation manager as a resource request. The computation manager calls at least one cloud-based agent from a database of predetermined agents in response to the handshake signal. • Patent number: 9085221
Abstract: A vehicle door provides for the decoupling of the load path by a cut-out area formed in the door inner sheet-metal. In an impact event the front or lower portion of the door inner sheet-metal is pushed inboard while the cut-out area prevents the dragging of the rear or upper portion of the door inner sheet-metal. The cut-out area of the inner door sheet-metal is preferably elongated or can be another shape. It may be a close- or open-ended slot. A stiffening bead may be formed in the inner door sheet-metal adjacent the cut-out area. To provide a seal against water or debris, an adhesive material such as water-proof tape is positioned over the cut-out area. A door beam may be provided. A door spacer block may be positioned between the door beam and the door inner sheet-metal. Door trim padding may be provided over the inner door sheet-metal.

  • Patent number: 9086066
Abstract: A rotary-vane vacuum pump comprises a stator and a vaned rotor, the stator partly defining an outlet chamber and including an outlet passage opening to the outlet chamber. The rotor is rotatably sealed to the stator; it has a sealing area to block the outlet passage, and, an unsealing area alignable with the outlet passage by rotation of the rotor to periodically unblock the outlet passage. The disclosed pump offers reduced resistance to lubricant oil discharge from the outlet passage, which results in lower differential pressure between inlet and outlet chambers at the end of the pumping cycle.
