Abstract: A vehicle door provides for the decoupling of the load path by a cut-out area formed in the door inner sheet-metal. In an impact event the front or lower portion of the door inner sheet-metal is pushed inboard while the cut-out area prevents the dragging of the rear or upper portion of the door inner sheet-metal. The cut-out area of the inner door sheet-metal is preferably elongated or can be another shape. It may be a close- or open-ended slot. A stiffening bead may be formed in the inner door sheet-metal adjacent the cut-out area. To provide a seal against water or debris an adhesive material such as water-proof tape is positioned over the cut-out area. A door beam may be provided. A door spacer block may be positioned between the door beam and the door inner sheet-metal. Door trim padding may be provided over the inner door sheet-metal.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for adjusting a secondary intake throttle based on condensate formation in a charge air cooler, the secondary throttle positioned upstream of the charge air cooler. In one example, a method may include decreasing an opening of the secondary intake throttle in response to increased condensate accumulation within the charge air cooler. The method may further include adjusting a primary throttle positioned in an intake manifold based on the condensate accumulation and torque demand.
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for expediting EGR purging in a hybrid vehicle during transient operations, such as tip-out to lower load conditions. In response to decreasing engine torque demand, engine fueling is disabled and a motor is used to spin the engine unfueled until a desired LP-EGR rate is achieved. Alternatively, engine operation is maintained with EGR disabled until the desired LP-EGR rate is achieved, and the excess engine torque generated is stored in a system battery.

Abstract: Systems and methods for improving detection and mitigation of engine misfire are presented. Engine misfire is determined by sampling exhaust pressure of a cylinder only during a time when an exhaust valve of the cylinder is in an open state. If misfire is indicated, an actuator is adjusted to reduce the possibility of misfire during a subsequent cylinder cycle.

Abstract: A lane-keeping method and system for a motor vehicle determines a transverse deviation and an misalignment angle of the motor vehicle relative to a target lane centerline, calculates a reference track for the motor vehicle to follow to return to the centerline using the transverse deviation and the misalignment angle, determines a reference yaw rate using a curvature of the reference track and a longitudinal speed of the vehicle, and compares the reference yaw rate with an actual yaw rate of the vehicle to determine a control deviation. A steering input is then applied to a steering system of the motor vehicle to minimize the control deviation.

Abstract: The present invention provides methods for making pnictide compositions, particularly photoactive and/or semiconductive pnictides. In many embodiments, these compositions are in the form of thin films grown on a wide range of suitable substrates to be incorporated into a wide range of microelectronic devices, including photovoltaic devices, photodetectors, light emitting diodes, betavoltaic devices, thermoelectric devices, transistors, other optoelectronic devices, and the like. As an overview, the present invention prepares these compositions from suitable source compounds in which a vapor flux is derived from a source compound in a first processing zone, the vapor flux is treated in a second processing zone distinct from the first processing zone, and then the treated vapor flux, optionally in combination with one or more other ingredients, is used to grow pnictide films on a suitable substrate.
