Patent number: 8973942Abstract: An active bolster mounts at an interior trim surface of a passenger compartment in an automotive vehicle. A plastic-molded, expandable front wall deploys toward a passenger in the passenger compartment. A plastic-molded back wall is joined around a substantially sealed perimeter with the front wall to form an inflatable bladder. The back wall includes an inflator receptacle defined by a raised recess wall having an inflator aperture. An inflator with a gas outlet end and an electrical connector end is received in the inflator aperture with the gas outlet end inside the inflatable bladder. The recess wall has a predetermined thickness for substantially retaining shape during inflation of the bladder. The inflator receptacle includes a flexible seal disposed around an inner edge of the inflator aperture comprised of a flashing edge bearing against the inflator and having a thickness less than the predetermined thickness of the recess wall.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2013Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Stacey H. Patent number: 8973654Abstract: A system for anchoring an expandable tubular to a borehole wall comprises a support member having a first end fixed relative to the outside of the tubular and a second end comprising a ramping surface. An anchor member has a first end fixed relative to the outside of the tubular and a second end extending toward the support member, the second end being movable relative to the outside of the tubular. The support member includes a ramp surface that tapers in the direction of the anchor member. Expansion of the portion of the expandable tubular between the first support end and the first anchor end causes the axial device length to shorten, wherein the difference in length is sufficient to cause the second anchor end to move radially outward and engage the borehole wall as a result of engagement with the ramping surface.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2010Date of Patent: March 10, 2015Assignee: Enventure Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Antonius Leonardus Maria Wubben, Djurre Hans Zijsling

Publication number: 20150061376Abstract: A vehicle is disclosed comprising a pre-charge circuit, including a resistor, that selectively connects a traction battery to an electrical impedance. A controller is programmed to inhibit pre-charging for an amount of time when a predetermined number of pre-charge cycles have occurred within a preceding predetermined period of time. Publication number: 20150061708Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods detect a current sensor error in an FOC electric machine system. A voltage command is monitored to detect the presence of an ac component can indicate that an error has occurred at a current sensor. By way of example, a sensor fault detection module can be configured to determine the deviation between an actual voltage command and an ideal voltage command to provide a complex deviation vector. By transforming the deviation vector to a reference frame rotating at the fundamental frequency of the command voltage, a dc component of the positive and negative sequences can be filtered, and their amplitudes determined. Error detection can be based on the total amplitude of the fundamental component, determined by positive and negative component amplitudes. The invention enables an FOC system to operate with two current sensors, rather than three, and provides a dedicated fault diagnostic for a current sensor.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2013Publication date: March 5, 2015Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Chang-jiang Wang, Michael Degner, Rimma Isayeva, Liwen Xu, Daniel R. Publication number: 20150066265Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for dynamically allocating engine torque and motor torque in a hybrid vehicle to meet operator torque demand. The allocation is adjusted by constraining the maximum engine torque allowable under selected conditions to provide a better trade-off between performance and fuel economy. A maximum engine torque that provides best fuel economy is learned during engine operation at different engine speed-load conditions based on a deviation in spark retard torque ratio from a threshold ratio as spark timing is moved to MBT.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 4, 2013Publication date: March 5, 2015Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Douglas Raymond Martin, Ted Haladyna, Kenneth James Miller
