Abstract: A grommet assembly for sealing an opening through a floor pan and a reinforcement panel that are spaced apart is disclosed. The grommet assembly also seals around cooling lines that pass through the grommet assembly. The grommet assembly defines hollow sealing legs having extended and inverted positions in which the cooling lines are sealed when the hollow sealing legs are in the inverted position. The grommet assembly seals on the floor pan and is attached to the reinforcement panel. A mounting bracket for the grommet is disclosed having recessed and slotted apertures to aid in receiving the mounting post and aligning the grommet in the opening.

Abstract: A machine grinding system is provided for machine grinding the main bearing journals, pin bearing journals, the post surface, gear-fit wall surface, and the flywheel flange surfaces of a four cylinder crankshaft. The system includes three operating stations, each operating station only requiring one machine to maintain the desired production rate. The first operating station machine grinds the main bearing journals, post surface, and gear-fit wall surface; the second operating station machine grinds the pin journals; and the third operating station machine grinds the thrust bearing surfaces and the flywheel flange surfaces.
Abstract: An example multilayered bus bar includes, among other things, a first conductive layer, a second conductive layer, and a third conductive layer. The second conductive layer is sandwiched between the first and third conductive layers. A polarity of the second conductive layer is different than a polarity of the first and third conductive layers.
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for controlling an exhaust gas recirculation valve in an engine by determining errors in exhaust backpressure estimates and adapting EGR flow estimations based on these errors to meet target EGR dilutions in the engine. In one example approach, a method comprises adjusting valve position based on desired EGR flow and estimated EGR flow, where the estimated flow is based on estimated exhaust backpressure, and the estimated exhaust backpressure is updated based on errors between actual and desired intake oxygen concentration.

Abstract: Various systems and methods are described for detecting ammonia slip. In one example method, an amount of exhaust gas recirculation is reduced when output from an exhaust gas sensor indicates an increase in nitrogen oxide above a threshold amount. When the sensor output increases above a second threshold while the exhaust gas recirculation is reduced, the sensor output is allocated to nitrogen oxide; and when the sensor output does not increase above a second threshold while the exhaust gas recirculation is reduced, the sensor output is allocated to ammonia.

Abstract: Methods and systems for adjusting fuel injection of an internal combustion engine are disclosed. In one example, a change in fuel pressure is scheduled when a number of pilot fuel injections provided by a fuel injector to a cylinder transitions from a first number during a first engine cycle to a second number during a second engine cycle. The methods and systems may reduce engine emissions and improve engine noise characteristics.
Abstract: A motor vehicle window regulator in which a matrix coating is applied to a metal blank. The matrix coating is comprised of particles of a fluoropolymer (such as polytetrafluoroethylene) carried in an organic polymer binder. The coated metal blank is cold-formed to the shape of a guide rail with a longitudinal track disposed along an edge of the guide rail. A window slider is mounted onto the guide rail to slide along the longitudinal track, so that the fluoropolymer particles lubricate the sliding of the window slider on the longitudinal track.
