Abstract: Embodiments for heating a vehicle cabin are disclosed. In one example, a method for an engine comprises pumping coolant from a coolant reservoir to an exhaust component and then to a heater core, the coolant heated by the exhaust component, and during engine warm-up conditions, adjusting a flow rate of coolant into a heater core to maximize heat transfer to a vehicle cabin.
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for improved component temperature protection during individual cylinder knock control. Cylinder spark adjustments may be performed individually based on respective cylinder adaptive knock estimates. Bank to bank engine fueling may then be performed to control the exhaust temperature of each engine bank, independently.
Abstract: A method for controlling an active suspension system of a vehicle during a curb parking operation, so as to position a portion of the vehicle on a street and a portion of the vehicle on a curb. The method includes steps of activating a curb parking function of the active suspension system, acquiring inputs pertinent to the curb parking operation, and determining, by a controller, if a curb parking operation is feasible for the vehicle. If a curb parking operation is deemed infeasible, an operator of the vehicle is notified that the curb parking operation is infeasible. If a curb parking operation is deemed feasible, actuatable elements of the active suspension system are controlled to facilitate curb parking.

Abstract: Various systems and methods are described for calibrating a port injector of a common fuel, dual injector per cylinder engine which includes first and second fuel rails and first and second fuel pumps. In one example, after pressurizing both fuel rails and suspending operation of the two pumps simultaneously, a single cylinder is fueled by a port injector while the remaining cylinders are fueled via their respective direct injectors. Fuel rail pressure drops are measured in the rail coupled to the port injector and correlated to port injector performance.

Abstract: A vehicle proximity switch and method are provided having sensitivity control. The switch includes a proximity sensor, such as a capacitive sensor, installed in a vehicle and providing a sense activation field. Control circuitry processes the activation field to sense user activation of the switch by comparing the activation field to a threshold. The threshold is adjusted down when a substantially stable sensor signal is detected below the threshold for a minimum time period, and the threshold is adjusted up when a sensor signal greater than the threshold by a predetermined value is detected.

Abstract: A vehicle system for estimating a trailer length is disclosed and includes a first sensor for measuring a wheel steer angle and a second sensor for measuring a hitch angle. A processor is in communication with the first and second sensors and is operable to determine a wheel steer angle change and a hitch angle change. The processor performs a first computation if the wheel steer angle change and the hitch angle change satisfy a threshold requirement and performs a second computation if at least one of the wheel steer angle change and the hitch angle change does not satisfy the threshold requirement.
