  • Publication number: 20150298574
Abstract: An electric vehicle drive has a first motor/generator, a second motor/generator, and a set of wheels. A gear set couples the first and second motor/generators to the set of wheels such that a total wheel torque is selectably divided between the first and second motor/generators. A torque calculator responds to an operator speed input to select a total torque target. A torque allocator substantially maximizes a combined efficiency of the first and second motor/generators by dividing the total torque target into first and second torque targets for the first and second motor/generators according to a ratio selected in response to an instantaneous motor/generator speed and the total torque target.

  • Publication number: 20150300287
Abstract: Methods are provided for detecting high pressure pump bore wear, wherein wear between a piston and bore of a pump may cause an excessive amount of fuel to leak out of a compression chamber of the pump. A reliable method is needed that involves a pump performance model that incorporates a number of physical effects and is verified by real high pressure pump test data. A method is proposed that involves comparing a target pump rate based on the pump performance model to a real fuel injection rate in order to determine if an abnormal amount of fuel may be leaking from the high pressure pump.

  • Publication number: 20150302750
Abstract: Parking assistance for a vehicle includes various elements directed to assessing whether a motion or position of a vehicle is conducive to detecting an available parking slot. In one instance, a signal is received, and the signal is used to calculate a movement parameter. For example, the movement parameter might include a distance between the driven vehicle and one or more objects or a passing angle of the driven vehicle relative to the one or more objects. The movement parameter is then compared to a movement parameter threshold, and a notification is transmitted when the movement parameter is violated.

  • Publication number: 20150298622
Abstract: In a dimmable trim component for a vehicle interior, a trim article includes a reflective member having a photoreactive or an electro-optic coating disposed over the reflective member. The reflective member is configured to reflect ambient light. The coating is a bistable coating and is operable between a first light transmissive state and a second light transmissive state. When in the first light transmissive state, ambient light is transmitted to the reflective member for reflection by the reflective member through the coating. When in the second light transmissive state, a portion of the ambient light is absorbed by the coating and therefore, not reflected by the reflective member, such that the coating provides a dimming effect to the trim article in high ambient conditions.
