  • Publication number: 20200361340
Abstract: Powerflow is managed using a method, e.g., in a powertrain system having a multi-pack rechargeable energy storage system (RESS) with parallel battery packs. Each pack has a corresponding maximum electrical (current or voltage) limit. The method includes predicting a corresponding terminal voltage for each pack using the corresponding maximum electrical limit. The method includes selecting a terminal voltage as a selected voltage based on a requested operating mode, including selecting a maximum of the terminal voltages when the requested operating mode is a discharging mode and a minimum of the same when the requested operating mode is a charging mode. A pack current through each pack is predicted using the selected voltage and a corresponding battery state space model. A total power capability of the RESS is predicted over a predetermined prediction horizon using the selected voltage, with the operating mode controlled over the prediction horizon via the controller.

  • Publication number: 20200355820
Abstract: The vehicle mounted perception sensor gathers environment perception data from a scene using first and second heterogeneous (different modality) sensors, at least one of the heterogeneous sensors is directable to a predetermined region of interest. A perception processor receives the environment percpetion data and performs object recognition to identify objects each with a computed confidence score. The processor assesses the confidence score vis-à-vis a predetermined threshold, and based on that assessment, generates an attention signal to redirect the one of the heterogeneous sensors to a region of interest identified by the other heterogeneous sensor. In this way information from one sensor primes the other sensor to increase accuracy and provide deeper knowledge about the scene and thus do a better job of object tracking in vehicular applications.

  • Patent number: 10830869
Abstract: A vehicle radar system and calibration method that provide for system calibration so that target object parameters can be calculated with improved accuracy. Generally speaking, the calibration method uses a number of hypothesized calibration matrices, which represent educated guesses for possible system or array calibrations, to obtain a number of beamforming images. A blurring metric is then derived for each beamforming image, where the blurring metric is generally representative of the quality or resolution of the beamforming image. The method then selects hypothesized calibration matrices based on their blurring metrics, where the selected matrices are associated with the blurring metrics having the best beamforming image resolution (e.g., the least amount of image blurriness). The selected hypothesized calibration matrices are then used to generate new calibration matrices, which in turn can be used to calibrate the vehicle radar system so that more accurate target object parameters can be obtained.
