Abstract: A battery includes a first mono cell formed from a first electrode foil having a first body and a first tab, and a first coating. The first body has long edges and short edges, and a length-to-width ratio of the first body is at least five. The first tab extends from one of the long edges of the first body entirely between one of the short edges a midpoint of the long edge. A second electrode foil has similar structure to the first electrode foil and coating, but a second tab is aligned opposite the first tab along the short edges. A second mono cell has similar structure. A third tab and a fourth tab of the second mono cell are on an opposing side of the midpoint of the long edges from the first tab and the second tab.
Abstract: Presented are repair systems for fixing filler-reinforced polymer structures, methods for making/using such repair systems, and techniques for repairing surface damage/defects of multidimensional fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) panels. A repair system for fixing a contoured surface of an FRP structure includes a flexible contact sheet that is fabricated from a thermally stable polymer, and has a textured contact surface that seats on the FRP structure and overlays the damaged area. A rigid cover sheet, which may be fabricated from a metal material, a polymeric material, and/or resin-impregnated fiber, has a complementary surface that conforms to the contoured surface of the FRP structure and covers the flexible contact sheet. The repair system also includes a heating element that lays against the rigid cover sheet and applies heat to the contoured surface with a substantially uniform profile that is sufficient to soften/melt portions of the FRP structure neighboring the damaged area.
Abstract: Systems and methods including a header flange to evenly distribute contact pressure across seals include, in some aspects, a plate including a bead and a flange edge. The bead includes a bead-side and a bead-corner. The flange edge defines an aperture through the plate. The flange edge also includes a first edge-portion proximate the bead-side and a second edge-portion proximate the bead-corner. The bead-side and the first edge-portion define a first edge-distance therebetween. The bead-corner and the second edge-portion define a second edge-distance therebetween. The second edge-distance is greater than the first edge-distance.

Abstract: A method of forming batteries includes feeding a foil through a coating machine. The movement of the foil defines a foil direction. The method applies a first coating band and a second coating band to the foil. The second coating band is spaced from the first coating band by a first tab gap. The foil is cut substantially perpendicular to the foil direction to separate a first coated blank. The first coated blank is cut separate the first coating band and a first portion of the first tab gap, and to separate the second coating band and a second portion of the first tab gap. A first electrode is formed from the first coating band and the first portion of the first tab gap, and a second electrode is formed from the second coating band and the second portion of the first tab gap.
Abstract: A washer fluid level indication system of a vehicle determines a present volume of washer fluid present within a washer fluid reservoir. A flowrate module is configured to determine a volume of washer fluid dispensed based on a measured voltage applied to a washer fluid pump and a predetermined volumetric flowrate of dispensing washer fluid calibrated based on a predetermined voltage. The flowrate module is configured to subtract the volume of washer fluid dispensed from the present volume. A level module is configured to determine a present level of washer fluid within the washer fluid reservoir based on the present volume and a predetermined maximum volume of the washer fluid reservoir. A display control module is configured to display the present level of washer fluid within the washer fluid reservoir using a washer level indicator.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for controlling an electrically-heated catalyst system of a vehicle. A method includes that a power request is received. The method includes determining whether to use a high power voltage net or a low power voltage net based upon the received power request. The electrically-heated catalyst system is controlled using the determined high power voltage net or the low power voltage net.
Abstract: A method and system to determine relatedness select a first customer observable from a first source document, the first customer observable being made up of two terms, the two terms being a first term of a first type and a first term of a second type, and select a second customer observable from a second source document, the second customer observable being made up of a second term of the first type and a second term of the second type. The method includes creating a first corpus of all documents that include the first terms, creating a second corpus of all documents that include the second terms, obtaining other first terms in the first corpus and other second in the second corpus, and performing semantic similarity analysis to determine a similarity score between the first customer observable and the second customer observable.

Abstract: A coolant control system of a vehicle includes first and second target flowrate modules, a target speed module, and a speed control module. The first target flowrate module determines a first target flowrate of coolant through an engine. The second target flowrate module, when a change in heat input to the engine is greater than a predetermined value, sets a second target flowrate to greater than the first target flowrate. The target speed module determines a target speed of an engine coolant pump based on the second target flowrate. The speed control module controls a speed of the engine coolant pump based on the target speed.

Abstract: A wire based additive manufacturing system includes a base movable in a feed direction. Multiple welding lasers are each spatially fixed as the base moves in the feed direction. Multiple cutting lasers are each spatially fixed as the base moves in the feed direction. Multiple wire feed members each feed an individual wire of a plurality of wires onto the base as the base moves in the feed direction. Each one the multiple welding lasers is energized to fuse parallel adjoining ones of the plurality of wires, and each one of the cutting lasers is energized to cut one of the fused wires to complete one of a plurality of wire layers.
