Abstract: A bearing and shaft arrangement of an automobile vehicle electric drive unit includes a gearbox. A first electric motor within the gearbox is engaged with and axially rotates a first shaft within the gearbox. A second electric motor within the gearbox is engaged with and axially rotates a second shaft within the gearbox. A first roller bearing assembly supports the first shaft to a first structural member of the gearbox. A second roller bearing assembly supports the second shaft to the first structural member of the gearbox. A thrust bearing is positioned between the first roller bearing assembly and the second roller bearing assembly and directly contacts the first shaft and the second shaft in a drive mode and reacts a first axial load of the first shaft and a second axial load of the second shaft directed toward the first axial load.

Abstract: A system and method may include capturing a multi-channel polarimetric image and a multi-channel RGB image of a scene by a color polarimetric imaging camera. A multi-channel hyperspectral image may be synthesized from the multi-channel RGB image and concatenated with the multi-channel polarimetric image to create an integrated polarimetric-hyperspectral image. Scene properties within the integrated polarimetric-hyperspectral image may be disentangled.
Abstract: A method includes capturing a first image of an object at a first time using a camera and assigning shade values to a plurality of pixels in a portion of the first image. The object includes a light portion and a dark portion that is darker than the light portion. The method further includes identifying a first mode value of the shade values corresponding to the light portion of the object in the first image, and identifying a second mode value of the shade values corresponding to the dark portion of the object in the first image. The method further includes determining a difference between the first and second mode values, and determining a contrast of the first image based on the difference.

Abstract: An assembly includes a vehicle component and a heat shield. The vehicle component includes a main body, a first plurality of teeth projecting from a first side of the main body, and a second plurality of teeth projecting from a second side of the main body opposite of the first side. The heat shield includes a first shell and a second shell. The first shell defines a first plurality of windows configured to receive the first plurality of teeth. The second shell defines a second plurality of windows configured to receive the second plurality of teeth. The heat shield is attachable to the vehicle component by positioning the heat shield such that the first plurality of teeth projects through the first plurality of windows and the second plurality of teeth projects through the second plurality of windows.

Abstract: A system includes a temperature sensor configured to measure a temperature of exhaust gas produced by an engine, and a boost error module configured to determine a boost error of the engine. The system further includes a combustion control module configured to select at least one of a target boost pressure of the engine, a target EGR flow rate of the engine, and a target fuel injection parameter of the engine from a first set of target values when the exhaust gas temperature is less than a predetermined temperature and the boost error is less than a predetermined value, and to select the at least one of the target boost pressure, the target EGR flow rate, and the target fuel injection parameter from a second set of target values when the exhaust gas temperature is less than the predetermined temperature and the boost error is greater than the predetermined value.
Abstract: A compressor assembly includes a compressor housing and a positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube. The compressor housing has an inlet port configured to receive intake air at ambient pressure, an outlet port configured to discharge pressurized air, and a hollow cylindrical section having an inner radial surface and an outer radial surface. The inner radial surface of the hollow cylindrical section defines the inlet port of the compressor housing. The PCV tube is configured to allow airflow between a crankcase of an engine and the inlet port of the compressor housing. The PCV tube extends through the hollow cylindrical section of the compressor housing and beyond the inner radial surface of the hollow cylindrical section.
