  • Patent number: 3970871
Abstract: A direct current power supply is capable of delivering up to 1 ampere at 60 to 80% power efficiency from a storage battery source, providing a positive DC power output free from inductor-generated type switching transients. The converter embodies a regenerative switching mode means which alternately drives two sets of paired power transistors, turning on each one pair of power transistors for one-half cycle. Each one of the power transistor pair alternately transfers electron charges to a first one of two switch-coupled capacitors, thence to the second one of the two capacitors, and then to a positive voltage terminal. RC clipping circuitry is coupled to each one of the pair of power transistors providing faster resetting times for the power transistors, increasing the converter power efficiency by decreasing storage-time delay. By decreasing power transistor direct shorting time during power transistor switching between transistor pairs, power loss is decreased.

  • Patent number: 3968384
Abstract: The input waveform is applied via an input resistor to the inverting input of an operational amplifier. The non-inverting input is grounded. In the preferred embodiment, two feedback networks, each comprising a diode and resistor network, are connected between the output and the inverting input of the amplifier. The diodes are oppositely poled. A capacitor is connected to ground at one end and to a charging resistor at the other. The other end of the charging resistor is connected to a junction formed by the resistor and diode in one of the feedback loops. The charging resistor is selected so that the value of the voltage for the reference which is supplied by the voltage across the capacitor C, e.sub.c, is of the value to obtain the percentage clipping desired. A discharge resistor is selected so that the capacitor and discharge resistor has a long time constant with respect to the input frequency of the waveform.

  • Patent number: 3959594
Abstract: An arrangement and method for the localized self control of randomly allotted time slots to audio ports wherein simple control circuits with a memory are dedicated on a per audio port basis. A common control writes into the memory the time slot identity allotted to an audio port. The time slot identities generated by a channel counter are made available to all of the audio ports in the system, and a comparator in the control circuit associated with an audio port compares the stored time slot identity with the variable or varying time slot identities. An audio port is turned on and off without external control every time the two identities match. With this arrangement, any number of audio ports can have the same time slot identity, all turning on and off simultaneously in the same time slot to share the transmission medium.

  • Patent number: 3959588
Abstract: A digital line synchronizer system for use with a digital PCM TDM switching exchange will provide a vector address off-set between the address locations of WRITE and READ vectors within a multiple frame input buffer memory bank of the incoming line equipment upon the occurrence of either a loss of receive framing synchronization or the equalization of time reference between the WRITE and READ vectors with respect to the input buffer memory bank. The vector address off-set is provided to prevent the condition of information distortion due to the phenomenon of vector slippage whereby a given channel/word slot within the multiple frame memory bank is twice written with incoming PCM data under the operation of the WRITE vector address before the first stored sample of PCM data can be retrieved via the use of the READ vector address.

  • Patent number: 3955679
Abstract: Apparatus for and method of separating elongated articles having certain aerodynamic properties from a mixture containing contaminating particles of random shape is disclosed wherein a housing is diagonally divided into upper and lower chambers with a separation apparatus communicating between the chambers. The separation apparatus includes a funnel disposed within the upper chamber, a diffuser tube disposed within the lower chamber and a tubular neck connecting the funnel to the diffuser tube. A hopper is disposed above the funnel for dispensing the mixture to the funnel. A fluid, such as air, is forced into the lower chamber at a sufficient pressure to establish a predetermined flow rate through the diffuser tube and tubular neck to the base of the funnel. This flow rate is adequate to create a "fluidized bed" in the mixture, at the base of the funnel, permitting the articles and contaminating particles to move relative to each other.
