Abstract: A method controls display of one or more visually perceptible tags in association with a video. The method receives a first signal from a user input control device while the video is being presented via a display device without any visually perceptible tags. The first signal is generated by the user input control device in response to activation of a control associated with a function of causing the display device to present the video with the at least one visually perceptible tag. In response to receiving the first signal, the method causes the display device to present the video with at least one visually perceptible tag. After causing the display device to present the video with the at least one visually perceptible tag, the method changes the function associated with the control to thereafter cause the display device to present the video without any visually perceptible tags.

Abstract: A first method utilizes placeholder tags to facilitate a user's adding a tag to a video scene during a production process of a video. The tag is associated with an item depicted in the video and characterized by size, shape, temporal duration, and spatial location properties with respect to the video scene. A second method facilitates a user's customizing a video scene during a production process of a video, wherein computer-generated graphic content (logo or brand name for the tagged item) is overlaid on the item depicted in the video and associated with the tag. A third method facilitates a user to add a tag to a video scene during a production process of a video, where the video scene is related to another video scene associated with the video, and the method stores data associated with said another video scene to note the tag.

Abstract: A method for attributing revenue for embedded software that displays advertising. The method includes the first step of determining the presence of more than one type of embedded software on a given client site. Then, the process assigns priority based on the length of time each type has resided on the client system and the source of each type, followed by classifying each software type, based on the history of present and predecessor copies of the software. A distribution factor is applied to each software type, based on the amount of advertising displayed by each software type and the length of time each software type has been installed. The partner revenue is distributed based on the distribution factor applied to each software type and a rate table.

Abstract: A process is proposed that collects minimal personal data of an individual who is conducting a transaction online, either directly or from a third party. The data collected is then matched to a known and validated public profile stored in public and private databases, and a set of Knowledge Based Authentication (KBA) questions are generated from the identified databases and presented to (e.g., displayed or read to via computer generated voice) the consumer for validation of the consumer's identity. Once the individual's identity has been validated, the online transaction by the person can then be authorized.

Abstract: A user control, such as a television remote control device, allows a user to selectively display tags during a video program. The tags provide information about items that are visible in scenes in the video. The tags can identify the brand name, item name, location where the item can be purchased, additional information about the item, etc. The tags can be turned on or off by a viewer or user during playback. In a particular embodiment, a single button press on a remote control can cause switching from a play mode without tags to a tag mode that shows tags in the video; skipping back in time a short interval; and putting the video in a slow-forward play mode, or other alternate mode of play.

Abstract: A system and method for sharing electronic content. A sending user can specify one or more criteria that a recipient memory device must have to store the content. The sending user can also specify a digital rights management control that can be associated with the content. The content can be transferred to the recipient if the recipient memory device has the specified properties. Software at the recipient can ensure that the content is handled in accordance with the digital rights management controls specified by the sender.

Abstract: A high-speed ring topology. In one embodiment, two base chip types are required: a “drawing” chip, LoopDraw, and an “interface” chip, LoopInterface. Each of these chips have a set of pins that supports an identical high speed point to point unidirectional input and output ring interconnect interface: the LoopLink. The LoopDraw chip uses additional pins to connect to several standard memories that form a high bandwidth local memory sub-system. The LoopInterface chip uses additional pins to support a high speed host computer host interface, at least one video output interface, and possibly also additional non-local interconnects to other LoopInterface chip(s).
