  • Patent number: 10679367
Abstract: Various embodiments described herein relate to techniques for computing dimensions of a non-cuboid shaped object using angular estimates associated with 3D points captured in an image of a scene including the object. In this regard, a dimensioning system may capture at least one image of the scene including the object and identify one or more planes on the object from the captured at least one image. Further, a surface plane from amongst the one or more identified planes that contains a maximum number of three-dimensional (3D) surface points on the object is determined. Upon determination of the surface plane, angular estimation is determined representing angular values between a normal to the surface plane and a normal to a reference plane. Accordingly, the angular estimation is further used along with an estimated height of the object for computing the dimensions of the object.

  • Patent number: 10650205
Abstract: Various embodiments described herein relates to indicia reading system for scanning and decoding direct part markings (DPM) indicia. The indicia reading system includes a plurality of collimating optical elements that generate collimated light beams. A plurality of diffractive optical elements is tuned to split a corresponding collimated light beam into at least two sets of refracted light beams at two incident angles relative to a DPM indicia. A first set of refracted light beams with a zero-diffraction order and a first incident angle causes a bright-field illumination in a far-field area. A second set of refracted light beams with a first-diffraction order and a second incident angle causes a dark-field illumination in a near-field area. An image sensor generates image data of the DPM indicia based on a set of reflected light beams received from the DPM indicia in accordance with one of the bright-field illumination or the dark-field illumination.

  • Patent number: 10650631
Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment in accordance with the disclosure, an image processing system is configured to use a distance authentication template to execute a detection procedure that detects at least one non-linear distortion in a subject image. The distance authentication template can be generated by mapping a set of spatial coordinates of three features in a distortion-free image to a set of pixel coordinates of the three features in the distortion-free image. Addressing a non-linear distortion in the subject image can include performing remedial actions to remedy the non-linear distortion, or taking into consideration the non-linear distortion when using the distance authentication template to identify one or more features in the subject image.

  • Patent number: 10635922
Abstract: A terminal for measuring at least one dimension of an object includes at least one imaging subsystem and an actuator. The at least one imaging subsystem includes an imaging optics assembly operable to focus an image onto an image sensor array. The imaging optics assembly has an optical axis. The actuator is operably connected to the at least one imaging subsystem for moving an angle of the optical axis relative to the terminal. The terminal is adapted to obtain first image data of the object and is operable to determine at least one of a height, a width, and a depth dimension of the object based on effecting the actuator to change the angle of the optical axis relative to the terminal to align the object in second image data with the object in the first image data, the second image data being different from the first image data.

  • Patent number: 10635876
Abstract: An exemplary method of decoding a barcode uses a barcode template of known fixed fields in the barcode to enhance error correction in decoding of the barcode. A barcode having encoded data is scanned with an exemplary electronic device including a barcode scanner, a memory, and a barcode template stored in the memory. The barcode template includes fixed data fields and variable data fields. The barcode's encoded data are sampled into a codeword array, and a barcode template that matches the format of the scanned barcode is selected. Typically, error correction is then performed on the codeword array, and the error-corrected codeword array is then outputted.

  • Patent number: 10621538
Abstract: An exemplary system and method allowing for dynamic verification that cargo is being placed onto the correct carrier for transit is disclosed. The system may employ voice recognition to capture dynamically generated check digits from a display to verify the digits against a cargo record, thereby confirming that the cargo is being placed on the correct carrier. A voice enabled workflow allows a worker loading cargo to speak the last “n” digits on the identifying label of a piece of cargo to first uniquely identify the piece of cargo being handled. Once the cargo is identified, the system can direct the worker to the proper carrier into which the cargo should be placed. The worker then reads a unique “check digit” code generated on an electronic tag located in the carrier. The code is then verified by the system to confirm the carrier onto which the cargo was placed.

  • Patent number: 10621398
Abstract: Various embodiments illustrated herein disclose an apparatus that includes a sensor configured to track at least an eye movement and a head gradient of a user to determine gaze data, while the user views an indicia in a predetermined area defined external to the apparatus. Further, the apparatus includes a controller configured to determine first coordinates of the indicia based on the gaze data. Furthermore, the controller transforms the first coordinates of the indicia to second coordinates. Thereafter, an image capturing assembly modifies a focal length of the image capturing assembly to focus on the indicia based on the second coordinates of the indicia. Further, the image capturing assembly captures capture an image of the field of view such that the captured image comprises the focused indicia. Subsequently, the focused indicia, included in the captured image, is decoded.
