  • Publication number: 20140259547
Abstract: An open hose clamp with a tightening mechanism in the form of a so-called Oetiker ear. The tightened condition is locked by toothed portions which mutually engage outside the area of the ear on the side of the ear remote from the outer clamping band end. In the locked tightened condition, the ear is free of forces so that the hose clamp retains its clamping function even if the outward projecting ear is damaged.

  • Publication number: 20140215768
Abstract: To close and tension a hose clamp, the two end portions of a clamping band, which overlap one another, are provided on surfaces that face one another and have toothed areas which are held in reciprocal engagement by a holding device. The toothed area of one end portion is formed on the outer face of a tongue, the width of the tongue being less than the full width of the band. The holding device has a raised area that is formed in the other end portion and bears the other toothed area on the inner face thereof. The raised area begins spaced from the free end of the other end portion with an outwardly projecting step that has an opening for the tongue to pass through.

  • Patent number: 8424167
Abstract: Connecting the two band ends 10, 18 of a hose clamp is done by means of a guide hook 16 disposed on an inner band portion and engaging a guide hook receiving means 12 on the outer band end 10, and a support hook 17 also formed on the inner band portion and engaging a support hook receiving means 13 on the outer band portion. The support hook receiving means 13 is an embossment formed from the band material by cold deformation and being continuous with the band material on all sides, the inner surface of the support hook receiving means 13 having a support portion 25 adjacent to the outer band end 10 and extending at right angles with respect to the band surface. The support hook 17 has a nose 26 which faces away from the inner band end 18 and has a cut edge which nicks into the support portion 25 of the support hook receiving means 13 when the hose clamp is tightened.

  • Patent number: 8286308
Abstract: A clamp is formed from a band with overlapping end portions. The clamp includes closing means including an aperture in one of the band end portions and a projection on the other band end portion to engage the aperture in a closed condition of the clamp and hold the mutually overlapping band end portions upon one another. The clamp also includes tightening means for tightening the clamp by reducing the circumferential length from the closed condition and a tightened condition. The clamp has force transmitting means for positively transmitting tensile force between the mutually overlapping band end portions in the tightened condition of the clamp. The force transmitting means includes a first cup-shaped embossment formed in one of the band end portions and a second cup-shaped embossment formed in the other band end portion and adapted to engage the first cup-shaped embossment in the closed condition of the clamp.

  • Patent number: 7793571
Abstract: For signaling the force exerted with a manually operated pair of pliers, one arm of the pliers comprises an inner lever and an outer lever, the inner lever carrying a jaw of the pliers and being biased by means of compression springs, with respect to the outer lever which is gripped by the user's hand. The two levers, have opposed contact elements, which contact one another when the actuation force that acts counter the bias of the compression springs, reaches a predetermined value, to actuate a vibrator housed in the arm of the pliers.

  • Patent number: 7631908
Abstract: A clamping ring is used to mount an air bag gas generator cartridge on a support plate. A tensioning ear is formed in the clamping ring. Further, a wave is formed in the ring to increase the holding force between the ring and the cartridge. The wave consists of two convex arches projecting outward from the ring and an inward convex arch therebetween, the apex of the inward arch being at least tangential to the circle defined by the remaining portions of the ring in the initial condition of the ring. This type of clamping ring mounting is capable of withstanding torques between the cartridge and the support plate of well above 10 Nm.

  • Patent number: 7588230
Abstract: A plug-in safety coupling for pressure pipes consists of a coupler box with a blocking member pivotally mounted therein. The latter has a diametrical through bore in which a plug can be inserted, in a depressurized state, at an acute to a right angle to the conducting position. The blocking member can be brought into the conducting position by pivoting the plug. A cupped locking sleeve shaving a hemispherical front end is placed over the coupler box with the pivoting member. This hemispherical front end comprises a spherically extending oblong hole that extends along a great circle on the hemispherical end from the center thereof. The locking sleeve is rotatably mounted on the coupler box and is biased by a spring to such an extent that its oblong hole extends with an offset by 90° relative to the pivoting plane of the blocking member of the plug. Only when the locking sleeve is pivoted, a plug can be inserted.

  • Patent number: 7478841
Abstract: In a rapid coupling, an end section of a pipe nipple engages in a throughhole of a sleeve. A groove provided on the pipe nipple serves to engage a resilient locking ring formed in the sleeve in order to lock the coupled state. The locking ring is located in an annular recess formed close to the insertion end of the sleeve. If the pipe nipple is not inserted into the bush to such an extent that the locking ring latches in the groove, the pipe nipple is pushed outward by a compression spring provided in the throughhole of the sleeve, so that the groove is readily visible outside the sleeve. The groove thus serves not only for locking in the properly coupled state but also as an indicator for indicating a state which is not properly coupled.

  • Patent number: 7421930
Abstract: A hose clamp for limited diameters, in the form of an open band ring having overlapping band ends, is manufactured from the band material of an insert as is used in conventional hose clamps for bridging an ear gap, such insert being typically made of steel according to DIN 1.4310 having a thickness of 0.3 mm. An opening is provided near one band end and a hook for engaging the opening is provided near the other band end. For closing this hose clamp, a gripper-type tool is used, the two jaws of which, in the closed condition, constitute an essentially uninterrupted inner surface having a diameter corresponding to the outer diameter of the closed hose clamp.

  • Patent number: 7107814
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for pneumatically operating a tool which can be driven by means of pressure, such especially, pneumatic pliers. The device has a cylinder comprising one or more pneumatically operated, nonpositively fitted pistons arranged in a row, for generating a translatory force. The respective piston rods of the pistons are sealed against the preceding piston and guided in cylinder covers by means of a seal, such as a lip seal. Components such as a wedge piston are functionally connected to the pistons, said wedge piston being coupled to a cuneiform wedge, for transferring the translatory force and for operating the tool. The pistons are supported by at least one piston guidance strip, in the direction against the inner wall of the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 7093326
Abstract: For obtaining a hose clamp which has a continuously smooth inner surface free of gaps and which requires an as short as possible length of band material, the inner band end portion is provided with a tongue the length of which is approximately half the amount by which the hose clamp is narrowed during tightening. During the first half of the tightening movement, the tongue is guided transversely to the band longitudinal direction by a projection which engages a slot provided in the outer band portion. The slot at its end is continued by a window which starts at a step, and the tongue, during the second half of the tightening movement, passes through the window which then takes over the guidance of the tongue.
