  • Patent number: 5321879
Abstract: A method and apparatus for carrying out the method in which a clamp made from a flat blank is plastically deformed into circular shape, is locked in its closed condition, is transferred from the deformation station to a transfer station where it is placed over the object to be fastened and is thereafter tightened onto the object. In order to maintain the clamp in predetermined position on the object before being tightened, the clamp is additionally plastically deformed into a slightly non-circular shape differing from the circular shape of the object and is again elastically deformed into its original circular shape before being placed over the object so that return of the clamp to its slightly non-circular configuration will provide sufficient frictional engagement to hold the clamp in predetermined position.

  • Patent number: 5284368
Abstract: A tube connection consisting of a nipple structure and a sleeve member in which the nipple structure includes a tube-receiving portion provided, starting from an abutment surface with a substantially cylindrical section and an outwardly flaring clamping surface. The sleeve member is provided with a first internal section of substantially cylindrical shape followed in the direction toward the free end of the tube-receiving portion with an outwardly flaring clamping surface, whereby the internal diameter of the cylindrical section of the sleeve member is only slightly larger than the maximum diameter of the tube-receiving nipple portion. In one embodiment, the nipple structure and sleeve member are provided with complementary locking means to enable locking of the sleeve member in the clamping position by axial movement in the direction of the free end of the tube-receiving nipple portion and subsequent rotation of the sleeve member into predetermined locking position.

  • Patent number: 5230126
Abstract: A clamp structure which is provided with at least one pair of plastically deformable ear-like folds located on opposite sides of a center longitudinal cut in the clamping band and spaced in the circumferential direction by such a distance that they can be plastically deformed simultaneously by the use of a pincer-like tool. The pincer-like tool includes two sets of jaw-like members spaced from one another so as to permit simultaneous engagement of the two ear-like folds of a respective pair. The pincer-like tool may thereby have a relatively fixed center member forming a relatively fixed jaw-like member and two pivotally supported jaw-like members operable to be actuated toward one another. In the alternative, the pincer-like tool may include two sets of jaw-like members pivotally connected with each other whose points of pivotal connection are coupled with each other as also corresponding jaw-like members to assure movement in unison.

  • Patent number: 5230246
Abstract: A balancing arrangement for a rotating member, especially for hollow shaft made from lightweight metal, in which a counterweight of predetermined size and weight is affixed onto the external surfaces of the rotating member in predetermined position by the use of a clamping band made from a material normally devoid of an significant elastic stretchability. A plastically deformable ear structure is provided in the clamp structure for tightening the clamping band which includes two generally outwardly extending leg portions interconnected by a bridging portion that includes downwardly bent tab-like members along the longitudinal sides of the bridging portion to act as ramp surfaces and reinforcing elements for the ear structure. The counterweight is thereby connected with the clamping band in one place by spot-welding, particularly, when both clamping band and counterweight are made of stainless steel.

  • Patent number: 5219062
Abstract: A conveyor installation for loose material, especially blasting materials for sand-blasting installations, includes on the hall floor, respectively, blast chamber floor at least one longitudinal conveyor (1, 2, 3, 4) and at right angle thereto at its conveyor end in the same plane a cross-conveyor (5). The frames (19, 24, 33) include lateral girders (20, 21; 31, 32) which are connected by webs (22). The frames run on rollers (11 to 18, 34, 36) which project from boundary profiles (6, 7, 8, 9, 10). The latter delimit laterally the longitudinal conveyors (1, 2, 3, 4).

  • Patent number: 5191684
Abstract: An open clamp structure, especially an earless clamp structure with overlapping inner and outer clamping band portions adapted to be mechanically interconnected; the clamp structure can be tightened about the object to be fastened by the application of a tighening tool at tool-engaging surfaces in these band portions; the tool-engaging surfaces are thereby so constructed and arranged that over-torquing during tightening is precluded. Savings in band material can be realized by the particular arrangement of the mechanical connection of the inner and outer band portions which also permits an efficient preassembly.

  • Patent number: 4991266
Abstract: A mechanical interlock for an open clamp structure which includes a clamping band having an outer band portion and an inner band portion, intended to overlap in the closed condition of the clamp structure. The inner band portion is provided in the area near its end at least with an outwardly extending combined guide and support hook whose inclined guide and support surface is formed by its rear edge facing away from the free end of the inner band portion; the rear edge forming the guide and support surface is thereby non-rectilinear, as viewed in the axial direction of the clamp structure, to facilitate assembly of the clamp structure and minimize down-time of the machine for punching out the clamp structure. To further improve its holding ability, the rear edge includes a widened portion at least near the area where the outer band portion comes to lie when the clamp is installed on an object to be fastened.
