  • Patent number: 10144472
Abstract: A motorcycle includes a frame, a rear fender coupled to a rear portion of the frame, an accessory support structure and a pair of docking structures. The frame defines a longitudinal center axis, the motorcycle having left and right sides divided by the longitudinal axis. The accessory support structure is positioned laterally adjacent to both left and right sides of the rear fender. The pair of docking structures each includes a lug secured to the frame and extending transverse to the longitudinal center axis, and a hollow fitting positionable on the lug in a plurality of different rotational orientations about a mutual axis of the lug and the fitting. The fitting defines a docking surface with a non-circular cross-section. Lateral offset of the docking surface may be adjustable by reversing the fitting on the lug.

  • Patent number: 10144470
Abstract: A vehicle seat includes a cushion material and a cover for covering the cushion material. The cover includes a load receiving portion configured to receive a load of a seated occupant. The load receiving portion includes a large thickness portion and a small thickness portion that are located next to each other in a first direction that intersects with a thickness direction of the cover. Each of the large and small thickness portions includes an elastic layer compressive in the thickness direction and a lower cover layer located closer to the cushion material than the elastic layer in the thickness direction. The elastic layer of the small thickness portion is compressed such that the thickness of the small thickness portion is smaller than the thickness of the large thickness portion. The lower cover layer of the large thickness portion is partially cut off to form a cutoff portion.

  • Patent number: 10071785
Abstract: System, method, and assembly for controlling a vehicle. In one example, the system includes a first suspension system and a first controller. The first controller is configured to receive an input signal representing vehicle operating parameters. The first controller is also configured to receive a first target displacement determined by a second controller for a second suspension system of the vehicle. The first controller is further configured to determine a second target displacement for the first suspension system of the vehicle based on the first target displacement and the input signal. The first controller is also configured to set a height of the first suspension system based on the second target displacement.

  • Patent number: 10029683
Abstract: A saddle-ride vehicle includes a forward travel sensor a brake that decelerates the vehicle by actuation of a rider-operable brake control. A controller identifies a trigger for an autonomous braking event for the brake. A rider sensor system is in electrical communication with the controller and includes one or both of: a rider cognition sensor operable to detect parameters of rider cognition and report rider cognition status to the controller, and a rider physical sensor operable to detect parameters of a physical engagement between a rider and the vehicle and report rider physical engagement status to the controller. The controller is programmed to perform one or both of the following in response to the identification of the autonomous braking event trigger: checking for a positive cognitive engagement of the rider with the rider cognition sensor, and checking for a positive physical engagement of the rider with the rider physical sensor.

  • Patent number: 9856817
Abstract: A cylinder for a V-twin engine including a body with a first end having a surface configured to mate with a cylinder head, and a second end configured to mate with a crankcase. A sleeve is fixedly secured within the body to define a cylinder bore. The sleeve includes a first portion that extends from the first end of the body to the second end of the body. The first portion of the sleeve has a first wall thickness. The sleeve further includes a second portion that extends out of the second end of the body to be received within a crankcase bore. The second portion has a second wall thickness that is thinner than the first wall thickness. The sleeve is constructed from a chromoly steel alloy material, and the second wall thickness is less than 0.060 inch.

  • Patent number: 9834090
Abstract: A fuel tank assembly includes a fuel tank including a fuel inlet. A fuel cap is threadably engageable with the fuel inlet. The fuel cap has a grip provided for manipulation by a user. A vent path extends between a vent channel and the interior of the fuel tank. In a first configuration, the fuel cap is fully threaded to the fuel inlet to a fully closed position. The assembly is operable to transition to a second configuration in which the vent path is unobstructed and the fuel cap is fully threaded to the fuel inlet to the fully closed position. To enable unthreading of the fuel cap from the fuel inlet, the fuel tank assembly is operable to transition from the first configuration to the second configuration in response to a movement that does not alter the threaded engagement with the fuel inlet.

  • Patent number: 9813119
Abstract: A switch pack for a vehicle and systems comprising the same. One system includes the switch pack and a control unit mechanically coupled to the vehicle. The control unit includes a first antenna coil electrically coupled to an electrical system of the vehicle. The first antenna coil receives a current from the electrical system and produces a magnetic field. The switch pack includes a second antenna coil, at least one user-actuated device, and a wireless transmitter electrically coupled to the second antenna coil. The second antenna coil is positioned within the magnetic field and receives an induced current from the magnetic field. The wireless transmitter receives the induced electrical current from the second antenna, uses the induced electrical current to determine a state of the at least one user-actuated device, and uses the induced electrical current to wirelessly transmit the state of the at least one user-actuated device.
