Abstract: A corrosion inhibitor for aluminum in aqueous acidic compositions comprising 3-amino-5-alkyl-1,2,4-triazoles and aminotris(methylenephosphonic acid); and a method for its use.
Abstract: The epoxidation of terminally and/or internally olefinically unsaturated hydrocarbon compounds which are liquid at 50.degree. to 100.degree. C. and at atmospheric pressure (oil phase), in which the oil phase is treated with an acid phase containing acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid in aqueous solution, after which the aqueous acid phase is separated from the oil phase, the peracetic acid in the aqueous acid phase is regenerated and the regenerated aqueous acid phase is returned to the epoxidation reactor. Epoxidation is carried out using an aqueous acid phase containing at most about 10% by weight of peracetic acid, and the peracetic acid content in the aqueous acid phase is reduced by at most about 50%, based on the peracetic acid content of the aqueous acid phase used, after a single passage through the epoxidation stage. After separation from the oil phase, the aqueous acid phase preferably is cooled before regeneration.

Abstract: A powdery activator for per compounds is granulated by, at the same time, mixing it together with nonionic surface-active compounds certain nitrogen-containing compounds and, optionally, the water-soluble salt of an alkane polyphosphonic acid. The granulate thus obtained is powdered with a powdery absorbent and the powdered granulate is sprayed with a liquid binder and dried to a water content of at most 6% by weight. After the addition of a tablet disintegrating agent, the dried granulate is formed by compression under special conditions into tablets having special properties. When added to a wash liquor containing a standard detergent containing a per compound, the tablets improve the removal of fatty/oily stains, pigment-containing soil and bleachable stains.

Abstract: The invention relates to an adhesive stick of an adhesive resin dissolved and/or dispersed in an aqueous solvent system and containing a gel-forming component and, if desired, other standard additives. The new adhesive stick is characterized in that its adhesive layers applied by rubbing onto a receiving surface show permanently tacky pressure-sensitive adhesive properties and in that the stick contains the reaction product of sorbitol and/or xylitol and benzaldehyde as the gel-forming component and, as adhesive resin, a reaction mixture from the reaction of methyl vinyl ether/maleic acid anhydride copolymers with partially neutralized acid phosphate esters of nonionic wetting agents of the lower alkylene oxide adduct type.

Abstract: The aerobically hardenable compositions which comprise polymerizable systems containing components having some degree of ethylenic unsaturation and an oxygen-stable polymerization initiator of at least one organo-boron compound containing at least a major portion of boron to carbon bonds and possibly some boron to hydrogen bonds in the molecule and the boron containing radials are bound to an organic polymer matrix which is oxygen stable, the compositions being useful as casting resins, fillers and adhesives.
Abstract: The invention concerns new organo-boron compounds with strong aerobic initiator action to start polymerizations but with improved stability when in contact with atmospheric oxygen. The boron is connected to the molecule predominantly by boron to carbon and optionally boron to hydrogen bonds. The organo-boron compounds are characterized by the fact that the boron containing radicals are connected to an organic polymer matrix that is at least largely nonreactive when exposed to atmospheric oxygen. The boron containing radicals are preferably directly connected to a carbon atom of the polymer matrix by at least one valence of the respective boron atom. The advantageously viscous-fluid to solid masses that are preferably largely free of solvents contain especially hydro-boron radicals and/or organic boron radicals that can have alkyl, cycloalkyl and/or aryl radicals as substituents.
Abstract: A dispensing container for multicomponent adhesives and other materials in which correct proportions, amount or ratios of two or more ingredients may be dispensed from a container while keeping the two or more ingredients from mixing together prior to application of the adhesive ingredients to the work to be glued or during closure of the container after application of the adhesive ingredients to the work. The container preferably comprises a hollow right angle prism divided by a slidable, self-supporting partition or partitions parallel to the longitudinal axis of the prism and pistons or plungers attached to the slidable partition or partitions and a slidable lug operating through a slot in the container wall to slide the partition with the attached plungers upwardly or downwardly to push the adhesive ingredients out of the container or return them into the container.
Abstract: Triglycerides containing hydroxy fatty acid residues, of the type obtainable by hydrogenating epoxidized natural fats and oils, are used as lubricants for the molding of polyvinyl chloride or copolymers predominantly containing vinyl chloride, and are a replacement for hardened castor oil.
