  • Patent number: 7847763
Abstract: A method for driving a passive matrix organic light emitting diode (PMOLED) is provided. A pulse width modulation (PWM) constant current is provided to OLED pixels connected to a segment of a PMOLED array without voltage pre-charging the segment. Then, an offset value corresponding to missing gray scales of the OLED pixel is determined. According to the missing gray scales, the gray scales of the OLED pixel are rescaled starting from the offset. The OLED pixel is thus driven by a compensated PWM constant current having the rescaled gray scales during each horizontal line period.

  • Patent number: 7812803
Abstract: The present invention relates to a driving method for cholesteric liquid crystal display. A plurality of pixels of the display are controlled by a plurality of row drivers and a plurality of column drivers. According to the method of the invention, firstly, a DC input voltage or a non-symmetric AC input voltage is applied to the row drivers and the column drivers so that the voltage of the pixel is larger than a withstand voltage of the drivers. Then, an initial column signal and an initial row signal are respectively supplied by the corresponding column driver and row driver so as to initialize the corresponding pixel. The polarity of the initial column signal is different from that of the initial row signal. Because the initial row signal minus the initial column signal equals the signal of the pixel, the amplitude of the signal applied to the pixel can be increased.

  • Patent number: 7728910
Abstract: The invention relates to a 2D YC separation device and YC separation system for separating a composite signal into a luma signal (Y) and a chroma signal (C). Firstly, the 2D YC separation device utilizes a low-pass filter to separate the composite signal into a low-frequency composite signal and a high-frequency composite signal. The low-frequency composite signal is a low-frequency luma signal. A 2D comb filter is utilized to separate the high-frequency composite signal into a high-frequency luma signal and the chroma signal. The luma signal is equal to the low-frequency luma signal plus the high-frequency luma signal. Therefore, the 2D YC separation device of the present invention can perfectly separate the composite signal so as to obtain a better luma signal and chroma signal. The YC separation system of the present invention further comprises a 3D YC separation device and a motion detection device, so as to obtain a precise luma signal and chroma signal.

  • Patent number: 7657087
Abstract: This invention provides a method and computer-readable medium for detecting flesh-tone regions in pictures, images, and videos. First, a flesh-tone axis is defined in a color space coordinate system, the flesh-tone axis passing through both the center of a flesh-tone region and the origin of the color space coordinate system. A perpendicular point, is then calculated on the flesh-tone axis as being the point having the shortest distance to an input pixel. A first distance and a second distance are then calculated based on the coordinates of the input pixel, the perpendicular point and the center of the flesh-tone region. The determination as to whether the input pixel is in the flesh-tone region can be made based on the first distance and second distance.

  • Patent number: 7605806
Abstract: The present invention relates to a data driving system and method for driving a panel. The data driving system comprises: a gamma voltage supply and a D/A converter. The gamma voltage supply produces a plurality of gamma voltages. The D/A converter receives the gamma voltages, a first pixel value and a second pixel value, and converts the first pixel value and the second pixel value to a corresponding gamma voltage in the gamma voltages. When the D/A converter converts the first pixel value, the gamma voltages have a first polarity offset. When the D/A converter converts the second pixel value, the gamma voltages have a second polarity offset. Because the data driving system of the invention periodically switches the first polarity offset and the second polarity offset of the gamma voltage supply, an offset in the driving voltage is eliminated by the first polarity (positive) offset and the second polarity (negative) offset in space and time. Therefore, there is no band mura in the panel.

  • Patent number: 7602368
Abstract: The invention relates to a reset device for a scan driver. The scan driver is used for driving a control circuit of a display. The reset device comprises: a first input terminal, a second input terminal and a reset circuit. The first input terminal receives a first input voltage. After the first input voltage inputs to the first input terminal, the second input terminal receives a second input voltage. The second input voltage has a temporary section and a stable section. At the stable section, the second input voltage is larger than the first input voltage. When the first input terminal receives the first input voltage, the reset circuit outputs a reset signal to the scan driver. When the second input voltage is larger than a threshold value at the temporary section, the reset circuit clears the reset signal. According to the reset device of the invention, the scan driver maintains at a reset state so as to prevent that outputs of the scan driver to be at high level at the same time of supplying power.
