Patent number: 8432522Abstract: The present invention is intended to control the color temperature of white exhibited by a liquid crystal display device. White is produced when light waves emitted through pixels associated with three colors of red, green, and blue have maximum intensities. The amounts of light emitted through the respective pixels are controlled by differentiating the shapes of the pixel electrodes disposed at the respective pixels from one another. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. Otherwise, the shapes of interceptive films disposed at the respective pixels are differentiated from one another in order to control light waves emitted through the respective pixels. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. The interceptive film may be shaped like the pixel electrode. Otherwise, the interceptive film may be realized with an interceptive pattern other than that of the pixel electrode or one of openings bored in a black matrix.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2011Date of Patent: April 30, 2013Assignees: Hitachi Displays, Ltd., Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ikuko Mori, Munenori Motooka, Ryutaro Oke, Kazunori Ojima, Kikuo Ono

Patent number: 8427400Abstract: Provided is an image display device in which deterioration of a self-light-emitting element within a pixel is corrected accurately. A detection unit detects, within a detection period, a difference in characteristics between self-light-emitting elements of adjacent pixels. A first subtraction circuit outputs a differential voltage between a reference voltage and an image voltage to a self-light-emitting element that is determined by the detection unit as a deteriorated element. An amplifier amplifies an output of the first subtraction circuit with a gain [1/{1-(?/100)}]1/2 when a driver transistor is driven in a saturation region. The amplifier amplifies the output of the first subtraction circuit with a gain [1/{1-(?/100)}] when the driver transistor is driven in a linear region. A differential between the reference voltage and an output of the amplifier obtained by a second subtraction circuit is used as a corrected image voltage.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 2009Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Assignees: Hitachi Displays, Ltd., Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tohru Kohno, Hajime Akimoto, Naruhiko Kasai, Masato Ishii

Patent number: 8427624Abstract: In an IPS type liquid crystal display device, a light shielding film, a red color filter, an overcoat film, and an alignment film are formed in this order on a counter substrate. However, the alignment film is not formed in a seal portion. When the alignment film is subjected to photo-alignment with ultraviolet radiation, a portion of the overcoat film not covered with the alignment film is degraded by ultraviolet radiation. In order to prevent moisture penetrating from the degraded overcoat film from reaching the light shielding film to thereby alter the light shielding film and from causing the peeling of the light shielding film, the red color filter is disposed below the overcoat film to block the moisture.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2010Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Assignees: Hitachi Displays, Ltd., Panasonic Liquid Crystal Display Co., Ltd.Inventors: Chikae Matsui, Hidehiro Sonoda, Noboru Kunimatsu

Patent number: 8404125Abstract: In a metal processing method, a photoresist liquid is applied to both surfaces of a metal plate (210) to form photoresist films (220, 230), respectively (Step S102). Subsequently, the photoresist films (220, 230) are exposed and developed so that the photoresist films (220, 230) is removed while leaving the photoresist films (220, 230) corresponding to portions in which a hole is to be formed (Step S103). Next, metal thin films (240, 250) are formed on both the surfaces of the metal plate (210), respectively, on which the photoresist films (220, 230) are formed (Step S104). Subsequently, the photoresist films (220, 230) are removed, and metal thin films (245, 255) are also removed, which are formed on the photoresist films (220, 230), respectively (Step S105). Finally, the metal plate (210) is immersed in an etchant to be etched, to thereby form a high-precision hole in the metal plate (210) (Step S106).Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2010Date of Patent: March 26, 2013Assignees: Hitachi Displays, Ltd., Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Noriharu Matsudate, Takeshi Ookawara
