  • Patent number: 8908484
Abstract: In a recording/reproducing device for recording and reproducing an optical disk, when performing verify processing of inspecting a quality of recorded data and compare processing of inspecting whether the recorded data can be read without errors, a time is taken because the same area needs to be reproduced two times. The verify processing and the compare processing are performed at one time reproduction. To perform the verify processing and the compare processing simultaneously, a recording quality storage part is provided in the recording/reproducing device, and reproduced data is transmitted to a host controller while storing quality information at the time of reproduction by an instruction of the host controller. The host controller performs the compare processing by comparing transmitted data and data at the time of recording and inspects the recording quality by acquiring the quality information of a reproduced area from the recording/reproducing device at intervals set in advance.

  • Publication number: 20140344642
Abstract: Patterns that might be generated due to a burst error are prepared beforehand. These patterns are formed by shifting all “1”s in an original channel word. A list of these patterns generated as described above is retrieved in parallel with a general conversion table during demodulation. When the demodulation is interrupted due to the burst error, the result of the retrieval of the previous pattern is referred to, and when there is a hit, the error is regarded as the burst error of the original channel word, and the demodulation is continued.

  • Patent number: 8891147
Abstract: In a scanning image display device including a function to project and display a two-dimensional image on a projection screen using a deflecting unit that repeatedly operates a predetermined reflecting mirror surface to two-dimensionally scan a light beam, a large image distortion inevitably occurs, which is caused by the reflecting mirror surface that repeatedly and two-dimensionally operates for deflection. In order to solve the problem, a free-form surface lens or a wedge or trapezoid prism with a predetermined refractive index and a predetermined vertical angle is disposed in an optical path between the deflecting unit and the projection screen, thereby excellently correcting image distortion that occurs when scanning a light beam.

  • Patent number: 8893162
Abstract: In an optical disc drive, a degradation of traveling performance of an optical pickup under hard acceleration or hard deceleration in a random access operation or the like results in a degradation of recording/reproducing performance. Groove structure is provided between two gears of a guide feed provided in an optical pickup, and the groove forms bending structure. Thus, the engagement state between a screw gear and the gears of the guide feed is stabilized. This makes it possible to prevent tooth jumping and step-out from occurring in the gears during the traveling of the optical pickup, achieving stable traveling. In consequence, the recoding/reproducing performance of the optical disc drive can be improved.

  • Patent number: 8804476
Abstract: In the land-groove method, wobble interference is reduced. STW modulation is used as wobble modulation for a part where wobble interference can occur, for example, a part where the configurations of both side walls of the groove are not the same and groove width modulation is unavoidable. Thereby, the amplitude of the groove width modulation can be suppressed to a quarter of that when BPSK modulation is used.

  • Publication number: 20140211601
Abstract: When data is recorded on an optical disc, and stored for a long period of time, there is a need to periodically evaluate whether a quality of the recorded data is determined with time, or not. If the signal quality is lower than a given level as an evaluation result, a work for moving the data to a brand-new optical disc is required. However, in periodical inspection, if the number of optical discs is enormous, a large amount of time is required to evaluate all data recorded on the optical disc. In recording user data on the optical disc, a signal of a particular pattern having a lifetime shorter than a reference lifetime of the user data is recorded in a given area of the optical disc in advance, the particular pattern signal is reading at given time intervals, and processing on the user data is determined on the basis of the evaluation result of the signal quality.
