  • Patent number: 5841416
Abstract: A liquid-crystal display device of a simple matrix type is permitted to present a liquid-crystal display of good display quality free from nonuniformity in display brightness. A method of driving a liquid-crystal display device wherein voltages which correspond to potential differences between scanning voltages from a Y drive circuit and display voltages from an X drive circuit are applied to liquid-crystal cells at intersection points between scanning electrodes (Y electrodes) and data electrodes (X electrodes), thereby presenting a display conforming to display data comprises the steps of providing a correction time period for correcting the display voltage to be output from the X drive circuit at least once every scanning period of one line, and outputting a correction voltage at a voltage level which is intermediate between a voltage level in an ON-display state and a voltage level in an OFF-display state instead of the display voltage from the X drive circuit within the correction time period.

  • Patent number: 5497361
Abstract: An information reproducing apparatus is capable of stably and correctly binarizing a signal reproduced from a recording medium, such as an optical disk, even if the reproduced signal contains a fluctuation of its low frequency component. The reproduced signal is replaced by an AC signal in a period other than a period during which the reproduced signal is to be demodulated so that DC fluctuation of the reproduced signal is reduced to thereby stably and correctly binarize the reproduced signal.

  • Patent number: 5420844
Abstract: An information recording method and apparatus records information signals having data signals and synchronizing signal patterns inserted at predetermined intervals of the data signals on a recording medium with a binary level by using a coding rule without a DC free property. The synchronizing signal patterns are inserted into the data at intervals of a fixed block length and are supplied to a recording apparatus as a mark/space pattern (record signal pattern). The data are converted into the same pattern as the mark/space pattern and an accumulated value (corresponding to the average DC value) for each block length is counted. The sum and the difference of an output of a memory which stores the accumulated values from the head of the sector to the (N-1)-st block, and the accumulated value of the N-th block, are compared with each other in absolute value.

  • Patent number: 5412632
Abstract: A signal reproducing system discriminates signals stably in the case of reproducing a signal from an optical recording medium which has coexistent recording areas with the signals recorded in different recording forms therein. Parts that constitute a reproduced signal are respectively derived by corresponding signal detectors from the optical recording medium in which a preformat area and a data area are included as the coexistent recording areas. The average potentials of VFO parts, which are respectively contained in the reproduced signal parts, are detected on the basis of the envelopes of the signal parts by a peak detecting circuit and a bottom detecting circuit. The detected average potentials are compared with a reference voltage, and the resulting difference potentials are added to the reproduced signal by an adder to bring the average potentials of the VFO parts into agreement.

  • Patent number: 5353405
Abstract: A method of controlling an image memory system wherein non-interlace image data is written into the odd field and the even field memories, and the contents written into the odd field and even field memories are respectively read out so as to be converted into interlace image data. Each line of the non-interlace image data is alternately written into the odd field and even field memories in units of a plurality of dots. If the plurality of dots include dots for the odd field and dots for the even field, the image data of the plurality of dots are simultaneously written into both the odd field memory and the even field memory. When reading the image data out from the odd field memory, the image data for the even field written into the odd field memory is invalidated. Similarly, when reading the image data out from the even field memory, the image data for the odd field written into the even field memory is invalidated.
