Abstract: In a storage system 1, a storage apparatus A having a first pool 1430 including segments as unit storage areas and a storage apparatus B having a second pool 1430 having the same configuration are communicably connected to each other. In the storage system, an external volume identifier is associated with a logical volume 1420 included in the first pool 1430, the external volume identifier being used by a controller 1500 in the storage apparatus B to identify and manage the logical volume 1420 as an external volume 1425 that is a virtual volume in the storage apparatus B. Moreover, a volume identifier 5110 of the logical volume 1420 included in the first pool 1430 is rewritten into the external volume identifier in order to enable the storage apparatus B to utilize the logical volume 1420 created from the first pool 1430.

Abstract: A projection image display device is disclosed in which a trapezoidal distortion and/or aberration are restrained when an image is enlarged and projected obliquely onto a screen. An image generator is connected to an optical system base in such a manner that at least an inclination thereof (on an axis parallel to X axis) with respect to a vertical line and a distance thereof in forward and backward direction (Z axis direction) can be adjusted by an adjusting mechanism. Further, a projecting lens 2 as a first optical system and a free-form curved surface mirror as a second optical system are fixed to the optical system base. The free-form curved surface mirror is rotatable (on an rotary axis parallel to X axis) with respect to the vertical line at a substantial center of the free-form curved surface mirror.

Abstract: This invention manages a power consumption of a system including a computer and a storage in combination with a workload of a business application. More specifically, a power consumption per transaction processing count is employed as an index that an application user utilizes as a guide for adjusting a power consumption amount. Further, the invention provides means that adjusts a power consumption per workload based on a trade off between power consumption and system performance. When adjusting the power consumption, the system configuration is modified so as to increase or decrease computer resources such as a disk or a server that the application utilizes.

Abstract: Geographically dispersed data centers each include servers and storage systems and are in communication with each other. An application is installed on a guest operating system on a virtual machine set up on a server at a first data center. The application accesses a logical unit on a storage system at the first data center. When migration of the application is initiated, the process determines whether any of the data centers has server resources and storage resources required to receive migration of the application. A destination data center is selected from candidate data centers meeting requirements for migration of the application. The application and guest operating system are migrated from the first data center to a second virtual machine set up on a second server at the destination data center. If a replica of the LU is not already present at the destination data center, the LU is also replicated.

Abstract: An object of the invention is to prevent a human error, greatly reducing man-hours and to securely identify a core. To achieve the object, a request for a serial number is first made via a conductor of a core from a recognition unit that functions as a master to a recognition unit that functions as a slave. Next, the recognition unit as the slave reads a serial number for an IC tag and transmits the serial number via the conductor of the core. The recognition unit as the master receives the serial number transmitted from the recognition unit as the slave and collates the serial number and a serial number stored in an IC tag. It is ascertained by the collation that the conduction of the core is correctly made and it is displayed on a display of the recognition unit as the master and others that no disconnection on the way and no error in selecting an end of wiring are caused.
