Abstract: A disk control unit of a storage system stores identifies of initiators that are capable of communications with storage devices and information of the storage devices correlated with the initiators. When an initiator performs a discovery processing, the disk control unit judges based on the information correlated with the initiator whether or not the initiator accessing to a storage device is illegal, and denies the access if illegal.
Abstract: A path creation support apparatus acquires beforehand, from a storage system or a host, either a portion of the parameters required for path creation or parameter decision information which is information for deciding this portion of the parameters. The path creation support apparatus decides the portion of the parameters based on the parameter decision information. Upon receipt of an access path creation start request, the path creation support apparatus sends to the host and the storage system an access path creation indication which specifies the parameters specified together with the access path creation start request, and either the parameters acquired beforehand or the parameters decided based on the parameter decision information acquired beforehand.
Abstract: The present invention is intended to simplify the user's initial setup operation when connecting a new network device to a network in his/her house/room, and further to prevent connection of a network device that is unknown to that user. A network connection management device, when receiving a network connection request from a new network device, sends the request to other network devices connected already to the network. The request then is displayed on each respective displaying means in order to prompt the user to confirm the request. The confirmation data inputted by the user through the inputting means of any of these network devices is sent to the network connection management device, which then determines whether to permit the connection to said network. When the decision result is “YES” (permit), the new network device is connected to the network.
Abstract: Related arts have failed to realize a data recording/reproducing apparatus having the ability to, while video-audio data is being recorded in a first recording medium, notify a user of the number of second recording media to which the recorded video-audio data is equivalent. For breaking through the situation, a data recording/reproducing apparatus in accordance with the present invention includes a module which monitors an amount of video-audio data recorded in a first recording medium, and a module which displays an equivalent of the amount of recorded video-audio data in terms of the capacity of a second recording medium.
Abstract: A method for making a master mold to be used for nanoimprinting patterned-media magnetic recording disks results in a master mold having topographic pillars arranged in a pattern of annular bands of concentric rings. The ratio of circumferential density of the pillars to the radial density of the concentric rings in a band is greater than 1. The method uses sidewall lithography to first form a pattern of generally radially-directed pairs of parallel lines on the master mold substrate, with the lines being grouped into annular zones or bands. The sidewall lithography process can be repeated, resulting in a doubling of the number of lines each time the process is repeated. Conventional lithography is used to form concentric rings over the radially-directed pairs of parallel lines. After etching and resist removal, the master mold has pillars arranged in circular rings, with the rings grouped into annular bands.

Abstract: In a wireless chip receiving the multi-rate data according to the related art, power consumption and a circuit area of an analog-to-digital converter become large. In a digital calibration type analog-to-digital converter including both a reference analog-to-digital conversion unit and a main analog-to-digital conversion unit, when processing the high-sample rate wireless receive signal, both the reference analog-to-digital conversion unit and the main analog-to-digital conversion unit are operated to configure a general digital calibration type analog-to-digital converter, and when processing a low-sample rate wireless receive signal, analog-to-digital conversion is performed by using the reference analog-to-digital conversion unit and operations of the main analog-to-digital conversion unit or the like are stopped to remarkably reduce power consumption.

Abstract: Test writing is executed while skipping areas where deviations are present on an optical disk to thereby improve accuracy and reliability of an optimum recording condition to be derived. A deviation detecting unit detects the deviations of a guide groove on the optical disk on the basis of a fluctuation amount of a focus error signal or a tracking error signal, and registers information of the detected deviations onto a memory. A test writing processing unit refers to the memory, and records and reproduces a test signal while skipping the areas where the deviations are detected.

Abstract: It is made possible to update information registered in a database of iSNS, SLP and the like in response to a configurational change in a storage device, and for a host computer to discover a disk volume. In response to changes in contents of operation to alter a storage configuration such as in creating or deleting a volume or LUN, contents of the alteration are reflected in the database of iSNS or SLP. Also, in response to a change in setting of LUN masking, a discovery domain of iSNS or attribute values of SLP are updated so that the host computer can discover the disk volume. Also, objects and services are reregistered periodically according to a registration period of iSNS or lifetime of SLP to prevent registered contents from expiring.
Abstract: A technique capable of suppressing or preventing generation of flickers (blinks) by a sustain period control as well as capable of ensuring or enhancing display quality in a PDP device. The PDP device adjusts a sustain pulse of the sustain period for every subfield by selecting a combination of one or more than one cycle so that start and end timings of a field in fields before and after change are almost the same according to a display load ratio of the subfield of the field. Field weighted emission center positions then becomes almost the same, and flickers and the like are suppressed.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method to synchronize the state of an application and an application's objects with data stored on the storage system. The storage system provides API's to create special data, called a marker journal, and stores it on a journal volume. The marker contains application information, e.g. file name, operation on the file, timestamp, etc. Since the journal volume contains markers as well as any changed data in the chronological order, IO activities to the storage system and application activities can be synchronized.
