  • Patent number: 5462933
Abstract: Bile acid derivatives, processes for their preparation and use as pharmaceuticals Bile acid derivatives of the formula IW--X--Gin which G is a bile acid radical, W is an active compound moiety of a medicament and X is a bonding member between a bile acid radical and active compound moiety, are outstandingly suitable for introducing active compounds into the enterohepatic circulation. The compounds I are absorbed and pass into the bloodstream. It is possible in this way, using the natural reabsorption of the bile acids, to achieve improved absorption of non-absorbable or poorly absorbable pharmaceuticals.W may be, for example, a peptide, an antibiotic, an antiviral substance, an anticancer agent, a hepatoprotective agent, an antihyperlipidemic, a diuretic, a hypotensive, a renin inhibitor, a substance for the treatment of cirrhosis of the liver or a substance for the treatment of diabetes.

  • Patent number: 5462986
Abstract: Mixtures of isomeric decyl alcohols prepared by hydroformylation of mixtures of butene-1 and butene-2 in two stages to give aldehyde mixtures, and condensation of the aldehyde mixtures to form an aldol mixture, followed by separation and hydrogenation. The first stage of the hydroformylation proceeds in the presence of rhodium catalysts dissolved in water, the second stage in the presence of cobalt catalysts homogeneously dissolved in the reaction medium. The mixture of isomeric decyl alcohols, when esterified with phthalic acid, yields a mixture of isomeric decyl phthalates which are useful as plasticizers.

  • Patent number: 5462643
Abstract: Reprocessing mixtures which contain organic solvents and constituents of low volatility and may contain water: includes introducing the mixture into a concentration apparatus of a solvent recovery system, concentrating the mixture in the concentration apparatus by evaporating off a portion of a readily volatile fraction and feeding this readily volatile fraction to a separation column. A portion of the concentrated mixture from the concentration apparatus is conducted away into a separation apparatus where the constituents of low volatility are separated off from the concentrated mixture and ejected from the solvent recovery system. The concentrated mixture is conducted away, freed from the constituents of low volatility, from the separation apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5462973
Abstract: A method for separating co-mingled polymeric materials, in particular polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is described. The process involves selectively dissolving a supercritical fluid into one of the materials at the appropriate temperature and pressure. Upon rapid reduction of the system pressure, the selected material foams providing a change in density. Under ambient conditions, the polymeric materials having a large density difference can be separated by means of aqueous separation and flotation. The preferred supercritical fluid for the process is carbon dioxide, and PVC is the material into which the supercritical fluid is preferentially dissolved.

  • Patent number: 5463021
Abstract: The aqueous dispersions from the polymerization of fluorinated thermoplastics can be worked up to a high value product (e.g., substantially purified of cations resulting from the polymerization) in a continuous manner, if the cations are first removed from the aqueous dispersion, the dispersion is then compressed and decompressed through small openings, thereby being coagulated, the coagulated phase is washed on a filter and partially dewatered, subsequently broken up to give a free-flowing product and this is dried to the desired residual moisture content. Qualitatively high value products, which can be directly fed to a melt extruder, are thus obtained with high throughputs.
