Abstract: The invention relates to surfactant systems for liquid aqueous or aqueous-organic formulations comprising a mixture of one or more basic cosurfactants and one or more surfactants from the group of the acidic phosphoric esters. The surfactant system makes possible the preparation of stable liquid formulations for active compounds, the formulations comprising
(a) one or more water-soluble active compounds (type (a)) and
(b) optionally one or more water-insoluble active compounds (type (b)),
(c) optionally organic solvents,
(d) the abovementioned surfactant system and water.
The formulations are either single-phase aqueous or aqueous-organic formulations of type-(a) active compounds, for example glufosinate-ammonium or glyphosate(salts), or they are microemulsions of type-(a) and type-(b) active compounds, for example diphenyl ether herbicides.
Abstract: A method for producing a coated polymeric article by co-extruding polypropylene and a maleic anhydride modified polypropylene, corona-treating, and applying a polysilicate barrier is described. Also provided are films and bottles produced using this method.
Abstract: An isolated DNA molecule encoding a protein from a plant, which protein has pantothenate synthetase activity; a non-naturally occuring chimeric gene comprising a promoter operably linked to a DNA molecule encoding a protein from a plant having pantothenate synthetase activity; a recombinant vector comprising the chimeric gene wherein the vector is capable of being stably transformed into host cell, a host cell stably transformed with a vector wherein the host cell is capable of expressing the DNA molecule; a method for assaying a protein having pantothenate synthetase activity; the use as herbicides of compounds which inhibit pantothenate synthetase, and a herbicidal composition, comprising one or more active ingredients which show significant pantothenate synthetase inhibition in an assay, are disclosed.
The invention relates to plant enzymatic activity, and aspects therefor, involved in the biosynthesis of coenzyme A.

Abstract: Disclosed and claimed is an assay for identifying potential inhibitors of p-hydrophenylpyruvate dioxygenases (HPPD) from plants, in which an enriched HPPD from plants is incubated with a test substrate to be examined and the enzymatic activity of the enzyme is determined in comparison with the activity of the uninhibited enzyme. Also disclosed and claimed is a method of using the inhibitors of HPPD of a plant identified by the assay, such as their use as herbicides. Further disclosed and claimed are novel herbicidal active substances, including those of the formula (I)
which were found using the assay method according to the invention.
