  • Patent number: 6052632
Abstract: A network system includes a plurality of vehicle-mounted, microcomputer-based electronic devices each having & distributed operating system for performing data communication and distributed processes among the electronic devices. By virtue of the distributed operating system, information resources and hardware resources can be used in common by two or more of the vehicle-mounted electronic devices. Thus the network system has a higher level of network transparency. Because the electronic devices can operate independently and they are interconnected by a common interface called network, a revision to the program of one of the electronic devices or entry of a new electronic device to the network system does not induce tedious and time-consuming version-up of the program of any other electronic device.

  • Patent number: 6049196
Abstract: An induction machine used as a power generator for an internal combustion engine, and which generates a predetermined power regardless of a rotation speed of a rotor of the induction machine and the engine. A power P to be generated is controlled so as to be equal to an upper limit value Pmax or less, a lower limit value or more or, equal to a target value Pc. The power generation control is achieved in the following manner. A speed N2 of the rotating magnetic field electrically generated with a three-phase winding of the rotor 1R is controlled in accordance with the mechanical rotation speed N1 of the rotor 1R in order that a relative speed N of the rotating magnetic field generated in the rotor with respect to a stator coil is kept at an upper limit speed Nmax or less, a lower limit speed Nmin or more, or a target relative speed Nc.

  • Patent number: 6045933
Abstract: A fuel gas supply device is equipped with a reformer for conducting steam reforming of methanol which is supplied from a methanol tank, and a hydrogen gas supply means for supplying hydrogen gas only, which is contained in the fuel gas derived from the reformer, to a fuel cell. By passing the fuel gas through a hydrogen permeable membrane or a pressure-swing adsorption device, a fuel gas in which any unreacted methanol is reliably removed therefrom can be supplied to the fuel cell. According to further embodiments, unreacted methanol is caused to positively react on a fuel electrode side of a fuel cell stack, so as to remove excess amounts of unreacted methanol from a fuel chamber. The method can further include a step of controlling the humidity of the fuel gas, by either removal or supply of moisture, before the fuel gas is supplied to the fuel cell.

  • Patent number: 6044684
Abstract: A plurality of grooves, which are defined in a reinforcing ring, comprise respective end walls which are formed as inclined surfaces. The grooves further comprise walls on which engaging projections are disposed in parallel to the inclined surfaces respectively. Segmented dies are installed in the grooves. Grooves, which are defined on the segmented dies, slidably engage with the engaging projections respectively. Accordingly, the segmented dies are displaced along the inclined surfaces while being guided by the engaging projections. Thus, it is possible to stably hold the segmented dies on the reinforcing ring. Further, it is possible to simplify the structure of the forging apparatus, and it is possible to decrease the number of parts.

  • Patent number: 6045481
Abstract: A control system for a toroidal continuously variable transmission which can control the transmission ratio without installing a position detection device or an angle detection device on trunnions and secure a sufficient control response to prevent hunting of the transmission ratio. To realize this control system, an axial force calculation device M3 calculates the axial force 2Ft in the trunnion axis direction that the transmission ratio control actuators are required to generate, based on the transmission ratio i calculated by a transmission ratio calculation device M1 from the input disk revolution speed .omega..sub.1 and the output disk revolution speed .omega..sub.2, and on the input torque Ti or output torque To estimated by a torque estimation device M2. An axial force change calculation device M4 calculates the amount of change in the axial force .DELTA.Ft based on the deviation between the target transmission ratio ic and the transmission ratio i.

  • Patent number: 6041764
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust circulation control valve having a simple structure and having both high-precision low-flow control characteristics and responsive large-flow control characteristics. In an exhaust circulation control valve 1, there are disposed an exhaust gas inlet port 6 for letting in exhaust gas from an exhaust gas path 2 of an engine E and an exhaust gas feed port 7 feeding the exhaust gas to an inlet path 3. Exhaust gas inlet port 6 and feed port 7 are made continuous with each other via coaxially disposed first and second openings 11, 12. First and second valve bodies 15, 16 are disposed on openings 11, 12 respectively in order to open and close the openings. First valve 15 is controlled by a drive mechanism 17 based on the operating state of engine E. Second valve 15 is kept in a closed state by a spring 19. Thus, when the lift on first valve 15 is small, exhaust gas flows only through first opening 11.

  • Patent number: 6042670
Abstract: A window glass of a vehicle, to which a hot melt adhesive agent is applied, is pushed while the window glass is held by a jig which is mounted on a robot. An allowable range of temperature of the adhesive agent is set between an upper limit and a lower limit. The upper limit is one at which the adhesive agent comes to have such a holding force above a predetermined value as to prevent deviation of the window glass. The lower limit is one at which a compression reaction force when a bead of the adhesive agent applied to the window glass is crushed to a predetermined thickness becomes smaller than a predetermined value. The adhesive agent is applied to the window glass at such a temperature that the temperature thereof at the time of completion of pushing of the window glass falls within the allowable range. The apparatus for mounting the window glass has a jig for the window glass which is provided at a front end of a robot arm.

  • Patent number: 6042170
Abstract: A light vehicle includes a lid that is pivotable about a hinge, provided at the rear end of the lid, for opening and closing a rear trunk. Locking members are provided at the front end of the lid, which are releasably engageable with roof-supporting struts. Thus, the lid can be moved to a fully open position without being interfered by the presence of the struts, which allows the rear trunk to be operated and used with increased ease. The seat, including a seating section and a back rest section integrally formed together, has an inclined lower surface that is superposed on an inclined upper surface of a rear cowl. Thus, rearward force applied to the seat when the vehicle starts moving or accelerating is divided to allow the seat to be firmly pressed downward.
