    Abstract: Aluminum iron based alloys and methods for producing the same are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a method for producing an aluminum iron based alloy includes melting an aluminum iron based alloy to form a melt. The aluminum iron based alloy includes iron at about 2.0 to about 7.5 weight percent, silicon at about 0.5 to about 3.0 weight percent, aluminum at about 86 to about 97.5 weight percent, and one or more of manganese, vanadium, chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, niobium, zirconium, cerium, erbium, magnesium, calcium, scandium, ytterbium, yttrium, or tantalum at about 0.05 to about 3.5 weight percent. The melt is solidified at about 105 degrees centigrade per second of faster to form particulates. The particulates are degassed at a degassing temperature of about 400 to about 500 degrees centigrade.

    Abstract: A turbocharger includes a variable-nozzle turbine having a variable vane assembly formed as a cartridge. A pipe-shaped insert of the cartridge fits into an axial bore in the turbine housing. The variable vane assembly includes a nozzle ring to which the variable vanes are mounted. A composite heat shroud is disposed between and axially compressed between the turbocharger's center housing and the nozzle ring. The heat shroud is constructed such that heating of the shroud causes the shroud to deform so as to increase the axial preload exerted by the shroud. In one embodiment the heat shroud is a two-layer structure in which the two layers are formed of different materials having different coefficients of thermal expansion.

In the second liquid phase fluorination reactor 1233zd (E) is contacted with HF in the presence of catalyst to produce 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (245fa) with high conversion and selectivity. A third reactor is used for dehydrofluorination of 245fa to produce (E) 1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (1234ze (E)) by contacting in the liquid phase with a caustic solution or in the vapor phase using a dehydrofluorination catalyst.

    Abstract: A low powered system for providing sufficient current to a fuel control mechanism drive. The system may have a fuel control mechanism pick circuit that has an energy storage mechanism for providing a large amount of current for a short time to the fuel control mechanism drive. A safety switch may be enabled with a special signal to let current flow to the fuel control mechanism drive to operate a corresponding fuel control mechanism for controlling fuel to a pilot light or heating element. The pilot light or heating element may provide heat to a thermoelectric source that generates electrical power from the heat. The electrical power may go to a single DC-to-DC converter and voltage clamp for providing a voltage source to a microcontroller and other circuits of the system. The pick circuit may prevent a harmful reverse flow of current from the storage mechanism to the thermoelectric source.
