  • Patent number: 5007588
Abstract: An aspiration sprayer comprises a head which is preferably permanently attached to a container in which additive material is received. The head may or may not be movable between positions controlling the degree of aspiration affected, and is provided with a cap movable between a first position in which the cap seals the container and prevents the additive material from escaping therefrom and a second position in which the container is unsealed and aspiration of the contents thereof can take place. Elements may be provided as part of the sprayer assembly for controlling the flow of the aspirating fluid. The cap is secured in its sealing position by an element which requires special manipulation for release, thereby providing an important safety feature.

  • Patent number: 4978070
Abstract: A pulsating sprinkler incorporating a three-position trip mechanism facilitating forward/reverse rotation and continuous rotation. The trip mechanism includes a trigger for reversing direction of rotation of the sprinkler, a latch for engaging an impact arm, and a control arm for maintaining the trigger in a fixed position. The trigger, latch and control arm are joined to a common pivot on the sprinkler body. A multiple position diffuser and deflector lever is adjustable for various degrees of diffusion or deflection of a water stream. The sprinkler body is easily removed from the bushing assembly by compression of snap fingers located at a terminal end of the spring body. Further, an O-ring radially seals a space between the bushing assembly and the sprinkler body. An impact arm having two plates with separated vanes extending between the plates or an impact arm with a single plate with two downwardly projecting vanes may be used for ease in molding and increasing manufacturing efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4961662
Abstract: A fountain brush assembly is provided with a removable and replaceable series of brush heads through which a cleaning fluid such as water readily passes to the surface to be cleaned, the assembly including a reservoir for detergent to be selectively added to the water, control of the use and amount of the detergent being effected through manipulation of the cover for the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4911358
Abstract: A method of controlling a multistage heating system so as to minimize the energy required to bring the temperature of a predetermined volume of space to a predetermined temperature level is provided. The multistage heating system includes an energy efficient first heating mechanism and at least a less energy efficient second heating mechanism. First, a time period for the multistage heating system to bring the temperature of the predetermined volume of space to the predetermined temperature level is calculated. This calculated time period is provided into a plurality of zones, each of the plurality of zones having an associated temperature limit. The first and second heating mechanism are controlled in each of the plurality of zones according to a switching logic associated with each respective zone such that the temperature within each zone does not exceed the associated temperature limit.

  • Patent number: 4881686
Abstract: A programmable thermostat for an air conditioning system for a predetermined volume of space is provided which includes a digital memory for storing a plurality of program times and program temperatures corresponding to the program times, a sensor for sensing the ambient temperature within the predetermined volume of space, a timer for generating the current time of day, and a controller for controlling the on/off switching of the air conditioning system in response to (1) a comparison of the current time of day with the program times stored in the digital memory to access the corresponding current control temperature stored in the digital memory and (2) comparison of the current ambient temperature sensed by the sensor with the current control temperature stored in the memory.

  • Patent number: 4826085
Abstract: In an aspiration sprayer comprising a head permanently attached to the container in which the additive material is received and rotatable between operative positions one of which seals the interior of the container and the other of which unseals said interior and enables aspiration to occur, the container is provided with a plurality of recesses facing the head and the head is provided with a positioning and locking part resiliently urged toward those recesses, location of the part in a recess positioning the head in an operative position, at least that one of the recesses corresponding to the sealing position of the head and the locking part being so cooperatively shaped as to prevent rotation of the head until the part is manually removed from the recess, another of the recesses preferably being cooperatively shaped with respect to the part so that the head can be rotated relative to the container upon the application thereto of an appreciable rotational force without having to manually remove the part from

  • Patent number: 4750674
Abstract: An aspiration sprayer comprises a head which is permanently attached to the container in which the additive material is received and which is movable between a first position in which the interior of the container is sealed and a second position in which the interior of the container is unsealed and aspiration occurs, the making of seals and appropriate fluid connecitions being accomplished by a plurality of sealed cups moved by the head. Safety means are provided to tend to retain the head in its container-sealing position. An aspiration opening is accessed by means of a nozzle which is snap-engaged with the head, and the carrier fluid after it leaves the nozzle is guided by means of flanges on the head so located and oriented as to produce a long-distance jet output. A cover protects the parts from accumulation of foreign matter.

  • Patent number: 4736891
Abstract: An aspiration sprayer comprises a disc valve for controlling the degree of aspiration over a very wide range by means of a plurality of passages of different sizes formed in the disc valve and selectively introduced into the flow path of the liquid to be aspirated, the disc valve rotating with a knob and being spring-urged into leakproof relationship with that flow path, the carrier liquid with aspiration material entrained therein emerging from the sprayer in a strong jet-like stream the nature and direction of which can be modified by a deflector mounted on the device so as to be slidable between operative positions. The knob and the disc valve may be readily assembled and disassembled and the operative passages of the valve are accessible for cleaning without requiring disassembly of the device. The passages in the disc valve may comprise a plurality of radially enlarged vortex areas interconnected by spaces of lesser width.
