Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclosed herein include a sintering aid composition that has a material useful for sintering, an amine, and optionally a carboxylic acid.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a vegetable oil based autocatalytic polyol derived from the reaction product of an epoxidized vegetable oil and an alkanolamine. The autocatalytic polyol according to the present invention may be used as a replacement for all or a portion of petroleum derived polyols generally used in the production of polyurethane materials. The polyurethane materials produced may be used in a variety of applications, such as, foam, elastomer and coating applications.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing an odorless and colorless industrial grade propylene glycol from glycerol obtained during the manufacturing of biodiesel. The process includes hydrogenating the glycerol to form a hydrogenated product, distilling the hydrogenated product to form a glycol product, and contacting the glycol product with a treatment bed. The propylene glycol may be used in various industrial and consumer applications and products such as personal care products.

Abstract: A tertiary amine, such as a tertiary amine catalyst that is useful in the production of polyurethanes, may undergo decomposition, which may result in the production of undesirable products. These tertiary amines, however, may be treated with a primary amine containing material to reduce the presence of the undesirable products to an acceptable level. Thus, a foam made from a treated tertiary amine will also have a reduction in the presence of the same undesirable products.

Abstract: A method of producing an amidoamine alkoxylate is disclosed that involves reacting a triglyceride, a carboxylic acid, or a combination of triglyceride and carboxylic acid with an alkyleneamine to produce an amidoamine and alkoxylating the amidoamine with an alkylene oxide. Also disclosed are amidoamine alkoxylate compositions and their use in agricultural formulations.
Abstract: Provided herein are polyamine precursors useful in the manufacture of epoxy resins. Use of a polyamine precursor according to the invention provides an epoxy resin formulation having an increased working time over prior art amines used for curing epoxies. Increased working times translate to the ability to manufacture composites which could not be made using conventional epoxy curing agents, such as composite blades for wind-driven turbines. Such polyamines are also useful in polyurea formulations for lengthening reaction time, thus allowing more flow of applied polyurea coatings prior to gellation.

Abstract: Provided herein are compositions useful as detergents in cleaning a wide variety of substrates, including hard surfaces and laundry. The compositions contain a water-soluble polymer, which is a co-polymer between a polymerizable amide and a second, ethylenically-unsaturated monomer. The polymerizable amide itself is prepared from an amine-capped, alkoxylated alcohol by reaction with maleic acid anhydride. Compositions according to the invention show enhanced cleaning performance and beneficial anti-redeposition properties.

Abstract: A process for the separation of a first amine having a tertiary amine group and a secondary amine group such as N,N,N?-trimethylbis(aminoethyl)ether from a di-tertiary amine such as N,N,N?,N?-tetramethylbis(aminoethyl)ether, comprising: contacting a mixture of the first amine and the di-tertiary amine with a carbonyl compound capable of forming an enamine such that the carbonyl compound reacts with the first amine to form an enamine; separating the enamine from the di-tertiary amine; and subsequently converting the enamine to the first amine.

Abstract: Provided herein are catalysts useful in reductive amination, which include nickel, copper, zirconium and/or chromium, oxygen, and tin. The presence of the tin increases the selectivity of the catalyst in reductive aminations over the catalysts of the prior art.
Abstract: In another exemplary embodiment, an amine functional curing agent has an Amine Hydrogen Functionality (AHF) of at least 7 and an Amine-Hydrogen Equivalent Weight (AHEW) of at least about 50.
Abstract: Provided herein are catalysts useful in enabling and promoting the insertion of alkylene oxides into ester linkages. The esters employed as a substrate to be alkoxylated include esters of fatty acids, such as methyl esters of C14 to C22 fatty acids, and mono-, di-, and tri-esters of glycerine, including vegetable oils, animal fats, and plant oils. A catalyst according to the invention includes at least two alkaline earth compounds, which may include any known stable compounds of the alkaline earths, and optionally contains one or more additional materials such as a carboxylic acid or a polyalkylene glycol having a molecular weight between about 100 and 1500 or a C1-C10 alkyl-capped polyalkylene glycol having molecular weight between about 100 and 1500, which has been acidified with a strong mineral acid. The preferred alkaline earths employed are salts and compounds of magnesium and calcium.
