Abstract: A method for inputting text to a handheld computer by way of using the keyboard on a personal computer connected thereto. The method includes the steps of: a) establishing an ADK connection between a handheld computer and a personal computer with a keyboard; b) opening a WINDOWS input mode under an editing mode in the personal computer; c) inputting text and/or symbols by using the keyboard and the WINDOWS input mode; d) converting the text and/or symbols into a format acceptable by the handheld computer; and e) transferring the converted text and/or symbols to the handheld computer.

Abstract: A method for launching software applications of a smartphone through a personal computer connected thereto is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: a) operatably connecting the handheld computer to the personal computer; b) the personal computer acquiring information of used times of applications of the handheld computer; c) converting tops of the most frequently used applications into items in a subwindow of the personal computer; and d) launching one of the applications by clicking an item in the subwindow, wherein the clicked item corresponds to the launched application.

Abstract: A dock for connecting a smartphone to a display and peripherals is disclosed. The dock transfers audio/video data to a display, establishes a wireless link with peripherals and possesses a KVM function. The dock has a controller with a switch, a wireless communication module, a USB hub, a relay, two USB connectors, a, USB switch, an AV converter, an AV switch, and two AV connectors. The relay normally connects AV data from the smartphone to the AV converter. The controller switches the relay while the switch is being operated, the wireless communication module establishes the wireless link with the smartphone. And the USB switch and AV switch can switch one of an external computer and a smartphone to be connected with the display and peripherals.

Abstract: A power management method is disclosed. The power management method comprises the step of a computer system checking existence of a manufacturing identifier (ID) of a human interface device (HID) when the computer system is operated in a first mode; the computer system continuously detecting whether the HID exist when the manufacturing ID exists; the computer system starting a timer when the computer system detects that the HID does not exist; the computer system entering a second mode when the timer expires; the HID determining whether the computer system is operated in the second mode, when plugged into the computer system; the HID performing state transition on the computer system when determining that the computer system is in the second mode; and the computer system entering the first mode when detecting the state transition.

Abstract: A dock for connecting a smartphone to a display and peripherals is disclosed. The dock uses a single connector to transfer audio/video data to a display and input-output data and to establish a wireless link with peripherals. The dock has a controller with a switch, a wireless communication module, a USB hub, a relay, a first connector, an audio/video (AV) converter and a second connector. The relay normally connects AV data from the smartphone to the AV converter. The controller switches the relay while the switch is being operated, and then the controller links the USB hub, the first connector and the wireless communication module, and the wireless communication module establishes the wireless link with the smartphone.

Abstract: An I/O module such as a card reader module for connecting a computer having a first and second USB port is disclosed. The I/O module includes an I/O controller connecting the first USB port, a charging controller connecting the second USB port and a third USB port connecting the charging controller. The I/O controller determines what a power state of the computer is according to communication between the first USB port and the I/O controller and then sends a control signal depending upon the power state to the charging controller. The charging controller changes the third USB port into a pure charger mode without data transfer or a normal mode with both charging and data transfer capabilities according to the control signal.

Abstract: A file managing method and a file managing mechanism for processing files from a first electronic device on a second electronic device are provided. The file managing method comprises steps of: detecting whether the first electronic device is connected to the second electronic device; uploading a file to be processed from the first electronic device to the second electronic device while the first electronic device being connected to the second electronic device and being operated by inputting a command for processing the file on the first electronic device; sending the command to the second electronic device; and performing the command on the uploaded file by the second electronic device.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a synchronization method between a first portable device and a second portable device. The synchronization method comprises determining whether a first operating system of the first portable device is the same as a second operating system of the second portable device. When the first operating system is the same as the second operating system, the first portable device performs a first synchronization procedure to synchronize with the second portable device. Also, a first window on a first desktop of the first portable device is created, wherein the first window contains data, files or application programs currently shown on a second display of the second portable device.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a data sharing method for a portable device. The method comprises executing an application program to create a data sharing event by a first user, and creating a user list by the first user, wherein when a second user of the user list shares a first file via the data sharing event, the first user receives and stores the first file in the portable device.

Abstract: A method for controlling the mobile apparatus is provided by the present invention. First, a data transmission link with a host group is built. When the mobile apparatus receives a coming message from a communication end, a notification message is sent to the host group through the data transmission link, so as to notify a user.

Abstract: Another embodiment of the invention provides a print system including a portable device having first data; a third party; and a print server. The printer server connects to at least one printer, wherein when the portable device wants to print the first data, the portable device transmits the first data and a print command to the third party, and the printer server monitors the third party to determine whether there is data designated to the print server, and if yes, the printer server acquires and transmits the first data to the printer for printing.

Abstract: Another embodiment of the invention provides a data saving system including a portable device having a first data, a third party and a storage management server. The storage management server connects at least one backup device, wherein when the portable device wants to save the first data, the portable device transmits the first data and a save command to the third party, the storage management server monitors the third party to determine whether there is data designated to the storage management server, and if yes, the storage management server acquires and transmits the first data to the backup device.
