Abstract: A communications network circuit through which data packets are flowing is identified by detecting a first message data packet inserted into the data packet flow by a user, and determining an endpoint destination address of the detected data packet. The circuit using the endpoint destination address is identified and a second message data packet containing the circuit identification information is sent to the destination address. A covert timing channel may be created, and one or more data packets containing circuit identification information may be sent through the covert channel.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for use in billing a toll-free telephone call over a telephone network, the telephone call corresponding to a first toll-free telephone number and initiated by a calling party from an initiating telephone number. In one embodiment, a toll-free telephone call is received at a service node, and routed to a first termination corresponding with the first toll-free telephone number, where the service node remains within the call path of the toll-free telephone call. A first call record is initiated for the toll-free telephone call at the service node, and it is determined at the service node whether the toll-free telephone call is to be connected with a second toll-free telephone number. A second call record is initiated at the service node, where a connection with a second termination corresponding with the second toll-free telephone number has been established.

Abstract: Systems for providing information on network firewall policy configuration facilitation include a firewall facilitation coordinator configured to receive a request to add an application not currently supported by a user's firewall policy, and to generate a time window during which a user can run the application and observe which types of packets are utilized by the application. A policy modification agent associated with the firewall is configured to communicate with the firewall facilitation coordinator. The policy modification agent is further configured to receive a firewall modification request from the firewall facilitation coordinator, to accomplish the observation of packets flowing through the firewall during the time window, and to subsequently modify the user's firewall policy such that the application is able to communicate as needed through the firewall, rather than being blocked. Other systems and methods are also provided.

Abstract: A system for facilitating diagnosis and maintenance of a control networks on a mobile conveyance comprises one or more wireless ground stations configured to communicate over a wireless communication channel with the control network. A local area computer network receives and responds to messages to or from the control network via the wireless ground stations. The local area computer network may have user terminals, a server computer, a database comprising diagnostic information relating to said control network, and a replacement parts database and/or job auction database. The local area network may also include a wide area network interface, allowing diagnostic information for the control network to be retrieved or parts to be ordered from remote vendor sites. The system may also include wireless handheld, portable equipment for allowing service personnel to perform diagnostic analysis, maintenance, and testing of the mobile conveyance control network.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method of hydrolysis of the peptide bond between R1 and B in a specific designed amino acid sequence R1BXJZR3R2, where R1 represents a polypeptide of interest, R2 represents a sequence capable of specific binding to another component or molecule or another domain which needs to be cleaved, R3 represents an optional short peptide sequence, B represents a residue capable of accepting an acyl group, J represents a residue capable of metal ion binding, and X and Z represent amino acid residues, wherein the said method is based on a novel molecular mechanism of peptide bond hydrolysis, occurring in a specific complex of this metal ion with the BXJZ sequence. This method can be used to remove BXJZR3R2 domains in recombinant polypeptides, such as sequences capable of specific binding to another component or molecule to yield pure, unmodified R1 polypeptides of interest.
