Abstract: Application of hydrophobic silica to an anisotropic-melt forming polyester yarn reduces interfilament and intrafilament fusion during heat-strengthening. Improvements in adhesion of yarn to certain matrices are noted.
Abstract: Group transfer polymerization process with respect to which a selected silylamine is employed, for example, as a scavenger to remove scavenger-reactive poisons.
Abstract: A lettering device having a writing arm (4) that is movable between a position of repose and a writing position and that receives a stylus that has a Bowden control (29) for moving the writing arm (4) between the position of repose and the writing position. The Bowden control is guided via an actuating lever (42) that is pivotably secured to a guide bearing (8), so that it is guided over two application zones (43, 44) displaced on opposite sides of the pivot axis (41) of the actuating lever (42) and spaced apart from one another. By tensing the Bowden cable control (21), one section (42') of the pivoting actuating lever (42) lifts the writing arm (41).
Abstract: A point source for calibrating a gamma camera uses the nuclide cerium-141. The source is disposed in a shuttered, shielded housing. The shutter is incrementally advanceable to expose, over time, an increasing portion of the area of the source to maintain a relatively constant gamma ray flux therefrom.
Abstract: An automatic system for analysis of sizes of a ground material includes a sampler for sampling and delivering the ground material in the form of a slurry. A sedimentation of cylinder is provided as is a device for reception of the slurry, its stirring and dosed supply into the sedimentation cylinder. A differential circuit is provided for measuring the mass of the ground material, which did not settle in the sedimentation cylinder as any instant of time during the analysis of the material size including a measuring channel and a correcting channel based on the same LC self-excited oscillator operating in a time sharing mode. An automatic error correction circuit and a data processing and display unit are provided for presenting information on the percentage of solid particles in the sizes being analyzed.

Abstract: A presoaked perhalogenated polymer cation exchange membrane containing at least one type of acid groups, carboxyl or sulfonyl, is bonded to other articles such as edge-reinforcing tape, gasket, electrolytic cell frame, etc., by means of a pressure-sensitive adhesive material from the group of butyl rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, and polyacrylate rubber. Presoaking of the membranes is done either in water or in an aqueous alkaline solution.
Abstract: This invention relates to highly attrition resistant catalysts, catalyst precursors and catalyst supports and to processes for making and using them.
Abstract: The invention relates to certain sulfonylurea compounds having an ester group ortho to the sulfonylurea linkage which have been found to be excellent preemergent and postemergent herbicides or plant growth regulators.
Abstract: The advancing system for a coal winning machine comprises a guide installed along a face conveyor, and an advancing mechanism connected with the machine. The advancing mechanism is accommodated in a separate housing and has at least two successively communicating pairs of advancing hydraulic cylinders with slides hinged to each of said cylinders. The guide is provided with rack-type engagement elements and secured to the end heads of the face conveyor. Each one of the slides has grips for holding on the guide, and a hydraulic cylinder. Each hydraulic cylinder of the slides is connected to its fixing bar the latter being installed with a provision for being arranged and fixed between the engagement elements of the guide.

Abstract: An hydroxy functional epoxy-polyester graft copolymer and solvent-based thermosetting coating composition comprising said copolymer and blocked polyisocyanate crosslinking agent. The coating composition may be formulated as hot sprayable, high solids coating composition suitable for use as chip resistant automotive vehicle primer adapted for use on body panel areas subject to chipping by stones, gravel and other road debris. Alternatively, the composition may be formulated as a high solids composition sprayable with conventional spraying equipment. The hydroxy functional epoxy-polyester graft copolymer is the product of polymerization of certain lactone monomers in the presence of hydroxy functional epoxy amine adduct precursor. The precursor resin is the reaction product of diepoxide with aliphatic diol and, subsequently, with hydroxy functional secondary amine. The polymerization of the lactone monomers is carried out at a temperature between about 50.degree. C. and about 300.degree. C.

Abstract: A stone ejection door mechanism for harvesting equipment comprising a stone sensing mechanism which will sense the presence of stones being ingested into the combine. A trap door mechanism including front and rear doors which are opened when stones are detected in the entering crop. The front door is moved to the open position when the presence of stones is sensed, and this opening movement acts through a chain and sprocket to rapidly open the rear door. After the stones have been ejected, the front door is closed followed by the rear door.
Abstract: A conductive through-hole hole is formed by through a dielectric sandwiched between conductors forming a noncircular hole in a conductor, etching a hole through the dielectric and by deforming at the conductor which has been undercut during the etching.
