  • Patent number: 4130677
Abstract: A glass surface is first coated with very thin layers of .gamma.-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and low molecular weight polyethylene, which may be applied separately or simultaneously. A coating of a copolymer of an .alpha.-olefin with an .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid is then applied to the precoated glass surface and heated to form a uniform film, which is capable of delaminating from glass and containing cullet upon impact resulting in glass breakage. This process if of special interest in coating the outer surfaces of glass containers to protect persons or property from injury or damage.

  • Patent number: 4129169
Abstract: Apparatus for making shells from thermosetting liquid compounds in which at a first station, a travelling and heated permanent metal mould becomes filled with a thermosetting liquid compound. The mould is then moved to a second station where it is held until a shell wall of desired thickness is obtained. Thereafter, the mould is transferred to a further station where excess thermosetting compound is recovered and dispensed to an accumulative mixer to be used again. Subsequently, the metal mould is passed to a final station where it is opened and the ready shell removed. The apparatus comprises said and liquid constituent containers, a sand feeder and two mixers, namely, a basic mixer and an accumulative mixer. The apparatus is provided with a unit for proportioning the liquid constituents and a delivery unit to force the compound into the mould.

  • Patent number: 4129843
Abstract: A magnetic trip means for automatically opening a circuit breaker contact upon the occurrence of predetermined fault current conditions is constructed of a stationary yoke, an armature biased away from the yoke and movable toward the yoke for tripping of the switch, an actuating coil in series with the contacts, and a sealed capsule coaxial with the coil for obtaining selected tripping characteristics. Within the sealed capsule there is a movable magnetic core biased to a normal position extending substantially outside the coil. The core is movable inside of the coil toward the armature upon the occurrence of overload current conditions with movements of the core toward the armature being retarded in a controlled manner. Control is obtained by closely spacing the outer cylindrical wall of the core and the inner cylindrical wall of the capsule, and additionally by utilizing a viscous fluid within the capsule.

  • Patent number: 4129262
Abstract: A hammer is provided for pulverizing and comminutating apparatus of the hammer mill-type with this hammer including both tearing and shearing edges for enhanced effectiveness in obtaining size reduction of both friable and non-friable materials. This pulverizer hammer includes a relatively narrow tearing edge which is disposed in spaced parallel relationship to the pivot bearing of the hammer. A side edge surface of the hammer associated with that tearing edge is formed in arcuately curved, receding relationship thereto for directing and urging particles of waste material radially outward toward the tearing edge where they will be subjected to further pulverizing action. A shearing edge is also formed along one corner of the side edge surface of the hammer and extends radially in receding relationship to the tearing edge. The arculately curved and contoured surface is also configured to extend in receding relationship with respect to the shearing edge.

  • Patent number: 4128622
Abstract: Hydrogen cyanide is commercially produced by reacting in the vapor phase ammonia, air, and a hydrocarbon gas, e.g., natural gas, in the presence of a platinum group metal catalyst. The operation of this process to obtain optimum hydrogen cyanide production is accomplished by determining HCN production at various natural gas feed rates, i.e., varying the air/natural gas ratio, while maintaining a constant air/ammonia ratio. Once the production peak is located, the natural gas feed is maintained at the corresponding rate.
