  • Patent number: 9117216
Abstract: An Internet use profile is created by a parent or guardian of an Internet user via a client-side software application at the user's computer. The use profile is submitted via the Internet to an intelligent network component. The use profile sets the duration for Internet use in general and sets the duration for access to particular Internet sites such as chat rooms, shopping sites, etc. The use profile is stored locally on the user's computer and remotely at the intelligent network component. When the user attempts to log on to the Internet via her Internet service provider, the client-side application verifies that the user computer has not already exceeded allowed Internet connection time in a previous Internet connection. If not, the connection to the Internet is allowed. After the connection is established, an Internet usage monitoring and controlling application at the intelligent network component monitors the time of connection between the user computer and the Internet.

  • Patent number: 9119041
Abstract: A personal media storage system within a visual voicemail system may be implemented. A visual voicemail server may receive and store multimedia content on a personal media storage system and associate such content with a voicemail. A visual voicemail server may obtain such content if provided with location data for the content rather than the actual content. A visual voicemail client on a wireless device may transmit a request for content to the visual voicemail server, which may retrieve the content and send to the visual voicemail client using the communications link between the visual voicemail client and the visual voicemail server. The visual voicemail client may render the content within the client.

  • Patent number: 9117228
Abstract: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture consistent with the present invention provide an electronic marketplace that matches units of content from secondary content providers with suitable vacancies from primary content providers. Vacancies may constitute, or be included in, any digital transmission containers, such as a television or radio programming, web pages, and the like. Specifically, the electronic marketplace automatically matches content offered by secondary content providers with vacancies offered by primary content providers thus filling the vacancies in these containers through a real-time content trading, placement, and distribution system. To do so, attributes associated with the vacancies and with units of secondary content are used to trade and match suitable vacancies with suitable content. This invention enables both secondary content owners and vacancy owners (primary content providers) to obtain the full commercial benefit of their secondary content and containers.

  • Patent number: 9119060
Abstract: Service continuity is provided when a user equipment (UE), employing local breakout mechanisms at a femto access point (FAP) for a communication session, moves out of the femto coverage area. In particular, a network change detection component can be employed to detect when the UE, attached to the FAP, changes its connection from the femto network to the macro network. Further, an active communication session can exist between the UE and a device/service/application on a local Area network (LAN) connected to a FAP, and/or the Internet, which utilizes local breakout at the FAP. When the UE moves out of the femto network, a context management component can be employed to seamlessly resume the communication session, via the macro network.

  • Patent number: 9118524
Abstract: A method of packetizing digital information for packet-switched communications includes placing, at a transmitting device with memory and a processor, a most significant bit of a digital voice sample into a variable-length most significant bit packet having a high transmission priority for transmission over a packet-switched network in which a node receives the packet and independently determines how to route the packet. At the transmitting device, a least significant bit of the digital voice sample is placed into a variable-length least significant bit packet having a low transmission priority for transmission over the packet-switched network. Prioritization of packets as having a high transmission priority or low transmission priority is independent of content characteristics of digital voice samples with elements contained therein.
