Abstract: A system and methods comprise a touchscreen at a premises. The touchscreen includes a processor coupled to a security system at the premises. User interfaces are presented via the touchscreen. The user interfaces include a security interface that provides control of functions of the security system and access to data collected by the security system, and a network interface that provides access to network devices. A camera at the premises is coupled to the touchscreen via a plurality of interfaces. A security server at a remote location is coupled to the touchscreen via a plurality of channels and a plurality of protocols. The channels include a short message service (SMS) channel, a remote control channel, and an asynchronous event channel. The security server comprises a client interface through which remote client devices exchange data with the touchscreen and the security system.

A security server located external to a premises may be in communication with a security system and a gateway device located at the premises. A status signal may be sent to the security server. The status signal may be initiated based on an alarm event. If the security server fails to detect a message of the status signal, the security server may send one or messages indicating the failure.

Abstract: TA communication system is provided that can be added to a legacy alarm system to provide a plurality of communication modes to a remote server system from the legacy alarm system and provide remote control and monitoring to a user of the system via two-way communication links. The communication system can be configured to communicate with an alarm processor of the legacy alarm system through use of a keypad bus typically used by the legacy alarm system for communication between the alarm processor and one or more keypads. Communication modes that can be provided by embodiments of the present invention can include, for example, communication over a public switched telephone network, cellular transmission, broadband transmission, and the like. The communication system can monitor all configured communication modes and determine which communication mode is the best for providing communication between the alarm system and the remote server.

Abstract: An integrated security system is described that integrates broadband and mobile access and control with conventional security systems and premise devices to provide a tri-mode security network (broadband, cellular/GSM, POTS access) that enables users to remotely stay connected to their premises. The server may send, based on the timing information, a message to a computing device indicating the loss of communication.

The video data may be sent to the client device via the selected protocol.
