    Abstract: A polyarylene sulfide resin composition contains a polyarylene sulfide containing at least one group selected from a group consisting of an amino group and an amide group, a polyamide resin, an epoxy resin and, as needed, a filler. A further composition contains 100 parts by weight of the polyarylene sulfide, 0.05 to 5 parts of the epoxy resin, and 5 to 400 parts of the filler. Another type of the resin composition contains the polyarylene sulfide, the polyamide, a compound selected from an acid, an acid anhydride and an acid halide, each having in its molecule not less than two functional groups reactive with the amino group or the amide group, and, as needed, the filler. A further type of the resin composition contains the polyarylene sulfide, the compound and, as needed, an inorganic filler subjected to surface treatment with a silane type coupling agent. A still further type of the resin composition contains the polyarylene sulfide and the compound.

    Abstract: A laminated resin sheet consisting of (a) at least one layer of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymeric resin (EVOH resin), (b) at least one layer of a hot-melt adhesive resin and (c) at least one layer of a polystrene-based resin, the layer (b) being interposed between the layers (a) and (c) to serve to adhesively bond them together. The laminated sheet has excellent moldability only when the EVOH resin has a thermal characteristic specified in terms of the integrated value of the peak areas in a diagram obtained by the DSC (differential scanning calorimetry) measurement in the course of temperature elevation. The sheet may be formed into a vessel having a multilayered wall structure by hot molding.

    Abstract: A novel process for preparing lithium N-methylaminobutyrate, which is useful for preparation of poly(arylene sulfide) such as poly(phenylene sulfide). The process comprises reacting N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone with a hydroxide of an alkali metal other than lithium in an aprotic organic solvent, reacting the resulting reaction product mixture with lithium chloride after removing water therefrom and removing the alkali metal chloride formed as a by-product. According to this process, lithium N-methylaminobutyrate lithium free from alkali metal other than lithium, is easily prepared, which is easily recovered and recycled in the production of said polymers.

    Abstract: A diamond-coated body is prepared by coating a diamond film on the surface of a sintered body by means of vapor phase synthesis, the sintered body being so prepared by subjecting a sintered body prepared from ceramics based on silicon nitride to heat treatment at the temperature of 1,400.degree. C. to 1,700.degree. C. as to give a crystalline intergranular phase. The resulting diamond-coated body has excellent adhesion between the diamond film and the substrate and it is appropriately employed for cutting tools and so on because, when applied to the cutting tools, they can be used for cutting for a long period of time.

The rubber-modified styrene-based copolymeric resin is imparted with excellent rigidity, impact strength and appearance, in particular, in welded portions when it is prepared by adequately selecting several parameters including the weight proportion of the moieties derived from styrene and acrylonitrile in the matrix phase and content of styrene, solution viscosity, content of 1,2-unsaturated linkages, particle size and distribution thereof in the rubber constituting the dispersed phase.

    Abstract: An interrupting layer of inorganic powder other than diamond is formed on the surface of a substrate and a surface of the interrupting layer is contacted with excited raw material gases containing a carbon source, under conditions suited to depositing of diamond on the interrupting layer. The diamond which is synthesized is separated from the substrate. The use of the interrupting layer, composed of the inorganic fine powders, allows ready separation of the diamond from the substrate and the diamond separated is suitable for diaphragms for speakers, heat conductive plates, cutting tools, semiconductors, etc. by appropriately choosing shapes of the substrate. Further, the resulting diamond film can be pulverized, thereby yielding diamond powders which are useful for abrasive tools, cutting tools, etc.

A washing device for use with the washing process contains a tubular body in which the static mixing elements are disposed continuously in series, and this construction is simpler than conventional ones and does not require a stirring power and mechanism to remove the impurities from the powdery and/or granular resin.
