Abstract: A multi-position rotary shear valve assembly having a substantially metallic or ceramic stator device and a substantially metallic or ceramic rotor device. The stator device defines a substantially planar stator face and at least two or more stator channels in fluid communication with the stator face at corresponding stator ports, while the rotor device includes a substantially planar rotor face defining one or more rotor channels. A tribological coating is disposed atop at least one of the rotor face and the stator face, which enables a substantially fluid-tight, selective relative rotation between the rotor face and the stator face, at a rotor-stator interface, between two or more rotor positions.
Abstract: A fitting assembly having a single- or double-headed ferrule, a nut, and a fitting that may be assembled or dissembled by an operator. The fitting assembly includes a nut with first and second ends, with the second end adapted to receive or abut the first end of a ferrule, and further includes a fitting with a first end having an internally tapered portion adapted to receive the second end of the ferrule and a second end adapted to be removably connected to a component or fitting of a liquid chromatography system. The nut, ferrule and fitting of the fitting assembly have passageways therethrough for receiving and removably holding tubing.

Abstract: A dual piston-pump apparatus is provided having a pump chassis that includes a pair of spaced-apart, elongated piston bores, and a lead screw shaft. This shaft includes a motor driven end, and another portion thereof rotatably mounted to the chassis for rotation about a screw rotational axis. A piston drive member threadably cooperates with the lead screw shaft for selective reciprocating movement longitudinally along the screw rotational axis thereof between a first position and a second position. The drive member includes a pair of spaced-apart piston shafts, each piston shaft of which includes a respective piston head slideably received in a respective piston bore of the chassis. As the drive member is driven along the screw shaft between the first position and the second position, each piston head is simultaneously reciprocated between a dispensing condition and an aspiration condition.
Abstract: A liquid dispensing system is provided for automated dispensing of a plurality of liquid reagents into a recreational body of water. The liquid dispensing system includes a cartridge apparatus housing a plurality of liquid reagent containers, each containing a respective liquid reagent. A docking assembly is provided having a dock manifold device, and is releasably coupled to the cartridge apparatus between a first condition and a second condition. In a first condition, the cartridge apparatus can be removably coupled to the docking assembly, while in the second condition, the cartridge apparatus is lockably mounted to the docking assembly in a manner permitting fluid communication from the respective reagent container to respective fluid passages of the manifold device. The dispensing system further includes a dosing engine having a valve manifold device to selectively dispense the liquid reagents into the recreational body of water through a dispensing port.

Abstract: While a large primary stream (24) of analytes flow from a chromatographic column (20) to containers of a receiver (108), small samples of the analytes are diverted for flow to a mass spectrometer (54) for analysis, by use of a transfer module (102). The transfer module includes a stator (110) and a rotor or shuttle (114). The shuttle has an aliquot passage (120) that initially lies in a first position where the primary stream flows through it so the aliquot passage receives a small sample. The shuttle then moves to a second position where the aliquot passage (at 122) is aligned with a pump (134) that pumps fluid out of the aliquot passage to the mass spectrometer.
